My journey
As H.a.l.a says, after a life time if yo-yoing, at nine years post-op and 7 1/2 years of being slim, this is the longest normal weight period of my life.
I hope it works fir you. Dieting especially fad diets never worked for me long term, surgery has.
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I wish you nothing but the best, seriously. If you can conquer this beast without surgery, all the power to you. I know I could not, so this was the best choice for me.
________
137 pounds lost - from a 24/26W to a size 8/10!
Congrats!
I too did had some success with the LCHF diet. I researched and dove in 100% - It really worked for me - I lost a lot of weight. Then it got harder and harder and didn't work any more and the weight came back on.
For me, it just didn't work well long-term. Using the VSG I've already lost more weight than I did on LCHF. The difference is in the maintenance. I never could get stable with LCHF, but I've maintained my weight pretty well for 2.5 years after hitting my goal post VSG. LCHF works. I found it hard to maintain it over the long haul, as have most others. I think I found it incredibly hard as I got anywhere near goal weight - my body really really started fighting back, or so it seemed to me.
Like anything else about our bodies, your mileage may vary... different approaches seem to work for different people and situations.
Good luck and best wishes for your continued success.

I totally agree that the LCHF lifestyle is perfect for the post WLS crowd. I certainly adhere to it faithfully. However, I never ate because I was hungry before my VSG. I ate because it felt good, because I liked the taste, because I wanted something particular (insert food name here) and bottom line, because I could.
Surgery changed a few things. I can't physically eat as much as I could before. I lost the weight. I like/love the new me and my new body. I had plastics and have great results from that that I certainly don't want to ruin. Major motivation! I got my health back with all the nasties that I had before (diabetes, high blood pressure, joint issues, cholesterol etc.) creeping back under their respective rocks. I want them to stay there forever. Major motivation again.
I feel accountable to my employer and colleagues and friends and family who have all supported me in this choice. Were it not for them in one way or the other I would not have succeeded. I would not even have given myself the courage to take the step and get this great tool. Major motivation there not to regain.
So yes, I stick to the LCHF lifestyle because I want my tool to keep working the best it can and I think that particular diet works wonderfully. But no way I could have done just that without the VSG and still be where I am now and stay here for any length of time (like forever is the idea here).
