So you ahve been successful with this diet for... let's see... all of  6 months?!?  You are hardly in a position to be claiming "victory" after six measly months! Come back in 5 years and then we can talk.

Most people can be successful with almost any diet for just 6 months.

Sorry you had such trouble with the band, but I think you're letting your past wls cloud your vision on other peoples wls.  You're thinking wls is temporary in the end?, I guess it would be if you eat around any wls, then yeah it's temporary., but it's not the surgery that was temporary, it was you.

The LCHF is nothing new, ever heard of Atkins? Pretty much the same thing, the problem isn't taking it off, it's keeping it off. That's where having this tool(wls) comes into play. Your tool didn't work for you, but there are others that it has worked for. Maybe after you get past the trauma of this particular wls you'll consider another, or maybe this new way of eating will work for you, but you've got to give it some time. 6 months is really short & Yoyo dieting sucks.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel

When I was younger I did a similar diet and maintained for 2 years. At that time I only needed to lose about 40 lbs. I yo-yoed a bit but eventually I started gaining again. I am extremely happy with my Roux-n-y. No complications and a lose of 140 lbs. I am more that 3 years out and feel that for me this was a life saving operation.

I am glad you are successful and hope it will last for you

In 2005 I had the band,  after putting up with horrid side effects like unspeakable reflux and many others,  also another 4 post ops in 2008, I had it out.  Initally I have lost about 38 kg which was only a few kilograms shy of my goal.  Slowly over the years I hav put it all back .  I have been struggling ever since til Oct 2014,  when I was recommended to check out LCHF   low carb high/healthy fat way of eating,    I have not looked back,  lost 28kg easily without any effort.  I am NEVER hungry,  full of energy,  sleep better, no aches and pains.

Please check it out before any surgery,  they are all temporary in the end.     This is my first post and you may think that I am a spammer or a troll or whatever,  you are entiteled to your opinion,  I AM NOT,  this is all true,  and I just feel sorry for people who have opted to go under the knife as I did,  and eventually be disappointed and back to square one.  Our goverment guidelines have been wrong for the past 50 years,  they are slowly changing them but of course they are not going to turn around and admit,  they've given us the wrong advice.  Good luck,  hope you at least check it out before mutilating surgary

"they are all temporary in the end." Um,excuse me but please don't think you can speak for me. I have lost 118# and maintained the loss for 5 years. Just because you couldn't make it work doesn't mean it doesn't work for anyone.

The problem was you,not the surgery.i sincerely hope this will be your first and last post.

It is ok,  I have expected a backlash.  LCHF(low carb high fat/healthy fat) OR Banting is nothing like the Atkins.  I know ppl who have been on this way of eating for 10-15 years and are still happy and maintaining their weight,  the big difference is saturated fats and the amount it is eaten daily,  it keeps the hunger away and it is easy to stay on the wagon.    Under no cir****tances I am telling any of you what to do or even speak for you,  just remember I have been there and although I had complications I put up with it for a number of years.   I have belonged to groups and many forums and most of the ops fail in the end bc ppl will push the boundaries and overeat and strech their inside,  that goes for all methods of surgery.    For a small percentage it is working long term,  and it is terrific and I am happy for them.  God willing I maybe back in 7-10+ years and we will compare notes.

As others said., let's wait a few years.

A lot of us did it all. Then..over year or 2 regained....and started new thing.  And....it worked, until it did not...

The WLS ous suppose to be last resort. It was for me.  Now, 7 years post op. With 6 years maintaining...this is the longest i have been normal size since my 30s... And my tool is working. At the same time i do follow LCHF diet.  WLS does not exclude that. I just get full eating smaller portion.  Much much smaller......

I wish you best...but let's talk in 2-3 years.

I agree! Most of us are EXPERTS at dieting but obviously NOT at keeping it off. In 1997 I discovered Atkins. I could eat all the protein and fat I wanted and still lose weight!!! Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, steaks, cheese, eggs and sugar-free sweets or those with high fiber and sugar alcohols!  I even found a website that sold low carb brownies, sweets and cakes. I lost 70 lbs and kept it off for two years, but then I gained it back with a vengeance!

Before and after that I then tried Jenny Craig, LA Weight Loss, Nutri-System, Weigh****chers, Cabbage Soup Diet, The Zone, Atkins again and the most rapid and recent HCG drops. Besides that-many more I cannot think of including diet pills, Phen Phen, Xenical, Alli, etc. On ALL of them I lost weight, 40-80 lbs.

Now mind you when I first started dieting I was 250 lbs,and went down to a low of 185 lbs. On ALL of them I re-gained weight, each time progressively more to where I was over 350 lbs! This WLS was a last resort and what I love about it is that in seeing results you are encouraged to exercise more, to eat correctly and properly, and in the log run to look at it not just as a weight loss journey but really your overall health and a "gain your life back journey". What helps is that yes, we still struggle, our mindset still wants to return to old habits, old routines but the good thing about this WLS is that it bides you time-time for when you do mess up, you know that if you get back on the horse the weight will fall off again or at least stabilize at the least. But the best thing is that your way of looking at food does change. Food becomes Fuel, not a reward, or guilty pleasure.

WLS surgery is merely a tool, for many of us our best and last chance, so we need to learn to weld this tool in a beneficial way. I was fortunate that in Walmart of May 2014 I saw an old friend who I hardly recognized. The last Time I had seen him was in December 2013 and he had lost 100 lbs since I had last seen him! He told me about WLS and of course I was thinking Gastric or Lap band but he told me about the Sleeve.

After Googling it I went to my first seminar at the end of June, did all they required of e and by that August I had my outpatient surgery for my sleeve. The funny thing is no one on my job knew about it and I only took 2 days off and was back to work. After about three weeks when they noticed I was losing weight rapidly and thought I was sick I finally told them about it and they have been very encouraging since, matter of fact extremely encouraging even now.

So all in all-I'm happy with WLS. It's not a cure all I know. I have to do the work, but I'm enjoying getting healthy. To each his own I guess. I wish you well!!!
