so hungry
Low carb! Low Carb! Low Carb!!!! I am presurgery, too, and have lost 22 pounds so far. I cut out sugar, flour, processed foods. I eat lean meats, veggies (no corn--it's a sugar), and healthy fats. And ppppplenty of water. I never feel hungry and am ranging in the 1200-1300 calorie mark.
You're going to have to give up breads, etc. after the you have your procedure. You might as well start now.
Low carb works for me. It always has. But Im finding it hard to get enough calories in and keeping my carbs under 75 a day. And thats a high carb day for me. I list everything I eat on MFP and I feel Im getting plenty to eat. Im not hungry. Im still not even reaching 1000 calories a day. Any suggestions?

If you truly feel you need more calories, then eat more protein and fat, NOT carbs. At 75 grams of carbs a day, that's 300 calories. The human body needs 30-40 grams of fat a day in order to function properly---if you eat 40, that's another 360 calories. 100 grams of protein will give you another 400 calories, for a total of 1060.
Thanks so much for that info. I had no idea it broke down like that. I feel Im getting plenty to eat. Im not hungry. I see a food addiction counselor and she and the nurse insist I need to eat more and more snacks. I feel Im eating enough. My daily goal for fat is 40. Im getting that. I think Im just going to keep doing what Im doing. Im losing weight and Im not hungry. Thanks again.

Just FYI---corn isn't a vegetable, it's a grain. Good fresh corn does have a lot of sugar, but even when eaten as a dried, ground grain, it breaks down into a simple sugar. (As do all carbohydrates, eventually.)
I'm still in the pre-op phase too and am waiting on insurance approval. I used Fitness Pal to track my food and weight loss. It's a great help to keep you within your calorie goals. I eat lean proteins and fresh fruits and vegetables and low carbs. I don't drink water with my meals either. You'll soon learn the foods that make you feel full and satisfied. Another trick I learned at the support group meetings was to buy a childs' plate and utensils set. The plate looks full of food and the smaller utensils teach you to take smaller bites and eat slower. Good luck on your approval and surgery. I hope this helps.
