4 More Days!
Today was my last day at work before surgery on Tuesday. I can hardly wait. My surgeon's office and the hospital called to confirm my pre-op appointments on Monday. I looked back at my very first post on OH and noticed that I made in on April 12, 2014. I didn't think it would take this long but now I'm just glad my surgery is almost here. I spent today taking care of my desk in preparation for being gone for 3 weeks. I plan to spend this weekend getting ready for Tuesday. Not feeling nervous yet but I'm sure Monday will be sleepless. The one concern I have right now is getting fluids in. I've noticed recently that it seems to be the most common problem within a few weeks of surgery. I'll be on clear liquids until my first post-op appointment on the 22nd. So this is what you have taught me so far about making sure to get my fluids in:
1. Sip, sip, sip, and sip again! 2. Keep a bottle of water with me. 3. Set a timer if need be. 4. Try different temperatures until I can find one that I can tolerate. 4. Use the 4oz water bottles if the larger ones seem daunting. 5. Try peppermint or ginger tea for nausea. And a couple of non-liquid tips: 1. Walk, walk, walk 2. Rest, rest, rest 3. Follow my surgeon's plan 4. Take pictures to follow my journey. 5. Stay connected with OH. Did I forget anything?
Carpe Diem!

Nope! Sounds like you've got the basics. Even though there are some big basics, everyone's journey is individual. What works for one person might not work for you. Don't be afraid to adjust things that might make you more successful. Definitely come here to bounce questions off people; there's a lot of good info here.
Go for it, Kid!

Don't forget your toothbrush. Best wishes!

You seem to have it all down. I am almost two weeks post op and one thing I would like to forewarn you about is burps and hiccups. They are uncomfortable (some would even say slightly painful) for about the first week after surgery. Everyone I know who has had both RNY and VSG have had them. It was a surprise to me, so I thought I would share.
Best of luck.

Take Chapstick and enjoy the ride. Remember this is major surgery so you will feel like crap at first but it will pass! Congratulations and see you on the other side!!

Good luck with everything, it sounds like you are set. I had RNY a few days ago, April 7th and it hasn't been too bad. Remember, lots of small sips, walk when you can because that will get rid of the pressure and the burps. It took me a good day or so to realize it. The recovery hasn't been bad, it's just trying to figure out what to eat and when. Another good tip is that I set an alarm on my phone to go off 30 minutes prior to eating so I would remember not to drink water, otherwise there was no room for my "meal".
Once again, good luck...
