Stressing after Gastric Bypass

I am so stressed after this surgery. I had it at the end of January and have lost a little over 50 pounds. My doctor wanted to see 20 more gone by the time I go back (another 2 months) but I'm so afraid I wont lose... I've stalled and am panicking. Did anyone else experience this stress? Am I worried for nothing?

Hi Melaniehunter5,

Breath, did you read what you wrote?  You have lost over 50 pounds.  YOU HAVE LOST OVER 50 POUNDS! That is awesome....

Take it one day at a time, follow your meal plan, log, journal, move, attend a support group if you can.  You are doing fine.  This journey is hard enough without you putting so much pressure on yourself.  Stalls are normal. Be sure and take a photo once a month, in the same spot wearing the same clothes, until they start to fall off.  Take measures and note how much better you feel and can move.  When the stall hits you will have other avenues to measure your success.

Come on over to the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum (RNY) to interact with those that had the same surgery type as you.

Looking forward to your updates

Hi, from all that I have read I have come to understand stalling is normal and it also passes.

Something to do with the body catching up…you will be fine. Good luck and all good wishes you way

I can understand being stressed but what I can't understand is the added pressure your doctor is putting on you too. If you are following all his instructions I'm sure you will have no problem with meeting his expectations. More importantly are you healthier?? This should be the priority and your doctor should appreciate that more than a number on the scale. You will do fine. Chris

I don't think it was his intention to do that. :D
