Funny story, I was at a bar with my son about 5 months post op.  I was 60 miles from my home and we ordered a dozen wings for an appetizer.  I literally planned to have one wing.  My son who is in great shape was going to eat the rest.  Just as the wings arrived, who walks up behind me????  My surgical team.....talk about guilty.  They were there giving a WLS seminar.  Anyway, stay away from wing during the lose phase.  You never know who is watching :)

Yes, I can eat a surprising amount of chicken wings.  The combination of the dark meat (which is more moist than white meat) and the slippery sauce does make it what I personally categorize as a "pseudo slider" food.

I would caution you, though, to avoid them for anotehr reason: they are almost always fried which adds a huge amount of fat.  Even some wings but don't look like they've been fried frequently are.  Unless they specifically say they are baked, they are likely fried.

It is true they are usually fried in restaurants. If you make it at home it is different. I have a convection oven and can get them really crispy with no oil used. There really is very little meat on a wing... I just looked at several calorie sites and based on the protein count they give there is approx. one ounce of meat on a whole wing. whole wing = 2 pieces in most restaurants...

For first eating out experience after my RNY we went to a Chinese buffet for my moms birthday. Their chicken wings (which I squeeze a little fresh lemon on) are my all time favourite. I took 2. They were delicious. Fast forward 2 hours later...throwing up and dumping. And it lasted the rest of the day! It was the first time I had vomited since surgery. It was scary!!! I won't be eating them again anytime soon. Chris
