Thrift store madness
My kids have spring break this week so I took the week off. I was in desperate need of new wardrobe items, and needed an entire summer wardrobe. I spent 3 hours yesterday and 2 hours today in 2 local, huge thrift stores, and i got a ton of stuff for about $120 total. I literally have a new wardrobe, including jackets for Spring and Fall. It's a lot of work sifting through everything and trying on dozens and dozens of items since there are no returns, but I got so much stuff! Everything is also good quality, and brand names. I am wearing my very first pair of Calvin Klein jeans today, which I snagged for $5.00. I also got my 13 year old daughter 5 pairs of jeans shorts, all of which were hollister, abercombie, etc. She really doesn't care at all about brands, but that's what they had, and they were about $3.00 each. Amazing!
Thanks to several of you who have mentioned thrift stores in the past. I didn't even know these existed and I have lived in the area since 1997. I went on the search after reading about those of you who posted on OH about relying on thrift stores to save money while changing sizes. I'm officially hooked! I may never hit the mall again!!!
If any of you live in South Jersey, the 2 stores I went to were Village Thrift in Pennsauken, and Red White and Blue Thrift in Berlin.
boy o boy though, it is a lot of sifting through racks. I mean there were racks up racks of jeans and pants as far as the eye can see. In 1 store, they were arranged by color and by general size, but in the other, just color. So, looking for a black pair of capris in my size meant looking at hundreds and finding the ones that were my size. Not very easy, but worth it!
Awesome!! I love thrift shopping, too!! It's like a big treasure hunt. I usually have to stop myself from buying too much.

I love thrift stores as well. I seldom go any other place; prices are just outrageous when compared with what you pay at the thrift store (at least up until now). Prices in thrift stores in MA are increasing do to the large number of people who are without jobs or underemployed and therefore can not afford mall prices. I go to the Goodwill OUTLET thrift store. Yes you heard it right a Thrift Store OUTLET. $1.75 for all clothing EXCEPT coats and those are between $3 & $4. Please remember the homeless when getting rid of your big clothes. There are a lot of overweight people in the shelter system and they have difficulty finding clothing that are their size.
