I'm nervous so I'm posting to hear of successful ablations after WLS?  I am having it done in the OB/GYN's office under twilight anesthesia on Friday.  I'm sort of freaking out.  Looking for any type of "been there, done that" support.  Thanks :)

I had it before my RNY, not after, but everything went really smoothly.  My doctor told me I would be crampy and sore for 12 hours, and she was exactly right.  After 12 hours I was fine.  In that time I took Motrin and used a heating pad.  I went to work the next day.  Good luck to you!

Been there. Before RNY.  best thing ever.

My cramps were bad for a few days.  But after RNY - taking NSAIDS it's really not recommended.  You may consider asking them for some muscle relaxants and use heating pad.

Yes I didn't mean to recommend Motrin...I took that before I had RNY.  Was just explaining that it helped me, so maybe a low level non-nsaid pain reliever would help.  If they can give you a prescription, that would be best, just in case Tylenol doesn't cut it.  But I'm not trying to scare you.  It isn't excruciating.  Just bad cramps the first day.  And it is such a relief to not have those problems anymore.

Hey!  How did it go?  And can I ask why you got it?

At some point I need to meet with an obgyn about my fibroids, but it just keeps getting put on the back burner due to everything else, since it's not causing me any issues.

Thanks for asking!  The procedure itself was super fast (15 mins maybe), I was asleep for it.  I woke up in recovery in a lot of pain, which they said was normal.  I actually had to take percocet it was that bad - but not for long.  By the afternoon I was feeling soooo much better.  Only took 2 doses of the percocet and today I feel like I could work out if I wanted to, but I think I'll rest one more day.  So far so good!!  I had the procedure because my periods were always pretty bad, but became much worse after my WLS.  Since I'm done having kids (I have 2 awesome teenagers) I was ok with it.  Here's hoping for no more periods :)  Good luck on your decision, Gwen.  Let me know if you want more info. (Edited to add:  Another reason I decided to have it done is my severe anemia)
