Can skin ever un-stretch on its own?

I'm still pre-op but have lost close to 70 lbs in the past 6 months. I've noticed I now have a distinctive "waddle" under my chin. I'm only 30, but this is the 3rd time I've lost the same weight, and this never happened the last two times (at 18 and 23). My husband is telling me not to worry because "your skin needs time to catch up," but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, and I'm worried it's only going to get worse after surgery. I've had DMII since my early 20s, so I am definitely not planning WLS for any cosmetic reasons, but this is bothering me more than I thought it would. Does anyone know if skin ever can at least partially tighten up on its own, or am I doomed to a perma-waddle unless I opt for plastic surgery? My upper arms look hilariously deflated too, but I can at least cover those with clothes.
I think that is just part of the weight loss surgery hazards. Before you were younger and it will sometimes snap back a little quicker but the older we get the less likely for it to snap back. Genetics play the biggest part in skin tightness so if you are lucky and have great genes you might not end up too bad but if you are like most of us you will need plastics of some kind or just learn to love yourself the way you are.

You're right, and honestly, I don't think my appearance is bothering me nearly as much as the fact that it means I'm getting older, hahaha.
Great response Hislady! And congrats to Fur on the weight loss.
I must say that I've not seen many of our members require/elect to have facial (or neck) plastics. I know that my personal experience did not require it. So wait a couple of years to see what's the what, and then decide how you want to proceed. Congrats again!
p.s. Do I have to change my avatar to a dog if I want to hang out with you guys? ;-)

Really?!
Wow, I guess you DO really learn something new everyday...huh. Thank you Kim, I guess it makes sense that people don't advertise it, or else talk about it in the appropriate forum. Ofcourse I know tons of people who've had body lifts, tummy tucks, and arms, but I had no idea about the neck and face lifts. Hey whatever makes you feel more confident and enjoy life, I'm all for it.
I went to look at your profile to see if YOU had had it but, I couldn't access it...but then again, I haven't been here in so long that I feel like I'm a newbie all over again. BTW I, too, have dual citizenship. I bet you have one of those awesome British accents. Cheers!

Hi Kathy,
You are the very first familiar face that I see! I'm not sure we've ever spoken in the past but I feel like we have, or at least like we shoulda (like my fake Texan accent?) ha!
Ok, can you tell me what has happened to this site? It used to be thriving with activity, but now...not so much, I see lots of different things....avatars of pets instead of member faces, profiles set to private, I don't know. Its just feels different. Whats the what?

that's kinda what happens when you stay away for a while. Things move on,with or without you.
