Protein without shakes?

So I want to say that if I never see powdered protein again in my life I would be the happiest woman on the planet. I have tried so many different ways of preparing it and I'm starting to think its psychosomatic. I literally start gagging while adding it. Thinking of asking me husband to do the prep for me. LOL. Yesterday I was so happy. I made a peanut butter and banana smoothie with the unflavoured protein powder and it tasted yummy! Guess what? It made me dump! GRRRRR!!!

I am a carnivore from way back and was wondering if there are any members out there that have been able to get all their protein from food? (the kind you chew, not drink) The dietician says that ultimately that is the ideal.

I'm worried that my total calories will be much higher if I am getting all my protein from food.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Chris.

Have I just missed it? I can't see which surgery you are having. It makes a big difference!

EDITED TO ADD  sorry! Yes I just missed it! I am not byassed so I will  let others help you here!

with my surgeon's blessing, I have never had a protein shake and get all my nutrition from real food. Even in the post-op stage when I made my own high protein smooth soup.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

No actual recipe! Just chop any veggies in the cupboard and throw into a pan with any flavours/spices/herbs/stock. Maybe a can of chopped tomatoes. Add a can of a high protein food like chick peas/soya/kidney beans/lentils.  Cook. If in the purée or thin food stages, blend till smooth. If not, take out half, blend to make it thicker, add back to unblended bits!

Any flavours you fancy!

I do still have a RTD Premier Protein shake for breakfast every morning but I get a lot of protein from turkey burgers and from Venison. Venison has a lot of protein. Im sure not everyone has access to venison but the turkey burgers have a lot of protein too if you can stand to have the same thing every day.
