Is a drain needed after surgery or catheter?

You will almost certainly have a catheter, but it will be put in after you are already "out" in the operating room, and it may be removed before you ever wake up. More frequently, they leave the catheter in for a number of hours post-op.
Most surgeons do not do a drain, but some do. The only way to know for sure is to ask your surgeon what (s)he does.

I had the RnY done on the 12th, and had neither.

Depends on your surgeon - I had neither.
