I AM SCHEDULED FOR SURGERY APRIL 16. PAPERS SENT TO INSURANCE PROVIDER (ASR HEALTH BENEFITS) WHICH REQUIRES APPROVAL FROM HEALTH PLAN ADVOCATE (HPA). CALLED TODAY TO CHECK STAUS HPA SAYS THAT THEY SENT IS BACK TO ASR, SO I ASKED THEM BUT THEY ARE CLASSIFIED IT HAS (APPROVED OR NOT) THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD CLASSIFIED AS MEDICAL NECESSITY. NOW I JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE INSURANCES FINAL DECISION. IF HPA APPROVED IT DOES THAT MEAN THE INSURANCE WILL?

It sounds like HPA determines medical necessity but not whether or not it will be paid for that decision is the insurance company's to make. I know from my recent 1 year experience the difference. Call your insurance company and ask if it means they will cover the cost of surgery and all follow up appointments. Good Luck
