5 days post-op and scale has not budged

I just wanted to ask if it is normal for it to take a while for weight to start coming off.  I had a sleeve on 3/17/15 and have been following all of the post-op instructions.  I just got on the scale this morning and I am the same weight I was when I went in for surgery.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you 😃.  I know it hasn't been very long, but I was starting to panic.  It makes me feel much better that this is normal.

You had a lot of fluids while in the hospital. We retain some of that. Once in breaks you will start noticing the big drops. At my first week check up I was down 5 lbs after dropping my fluid that I had retained at first. I was up 3 lbs when I came home from the hospital. My surgeon said he didn't even care about what my first weight was at one week. He was looking forward to seeing what I did when I go back for my 1 month check up. I have noticed that my scale is moving down too!

That is very good to know.  I just have to be patient 😊.  Hopefully I will start losing soon!  Thank you!

It's not magic;  the best thing you can do for yourself is to stay off the scale and only weigh in your doctor's office when you go for your check-up.  It's practically the road to madness to focus on the Demon Scale.

You're actually about two weeks early for this question!

My surgeon told me not to weigh myself the first week post op.  Totally normal!  Just try to get in protein and water, and you will see the results!  ;)

I went up 7 days post op so your doing good that the scale hasn't moved! I made it a point not to weigh myself often last time I steped on a scale was 3/5 next weigh in for me will be the 27th im hoping for some good numbers but just being a lil over a month out and ppl already telling me how good I look and almost not recognizing me, is an amazing feeling!

Ok, did you like what the scale showed you 3/27?

This can be very frustrating..  Hang in there and stay the course.  The weight will come off even if it feels slowing than a snails pace at times!
