Yay!!!!  I got my insurance approval in the mail, I called my surgeon's office and got a surgical date!!  May 4 is the day I've been waiting for.  I could have scheduled earlier, but my sister is getting married April 19th in Mississippi (I live in PA) and I just want to be safe in case I have any post surgical issues.

Also on Tuesday, I started an 8 week Mood and Food group.  It focuses on how our emotions, feelings, and coping mechanisms affect our eating and approach to food.  As someone who struggles with food addiction and emotional eating, I feel like this is going to be really great for me.

I think that now that I have a date in sight, I feel more focused and positive about the future.  I just got accepted to the local community college for the fall to finally go back and finish my RN.   I'm a little nervous about surgery, but I think that that is a good sign.  My surgery will be my opportunity to completely reboot my relationship with food.  I will eat to live.  Not the other way around.  I'm excited for the possibilities ahead of me.

Congrats to you. I just had my surgery last week and already excited about the changes this is going to make for me. I have really battled my weight all my life but got really focused the last part of 2008 and lost done to my goal weight in about 2 and 1/2 years on ww. Then struggled to keep it off yo-yoing up a little and fighting to get it back down for a couple of years. Made the mistake of pitching in the towel and in 9 months had about 80 lbs back on. So excited to have just had the R&Y and be on the losing bench. I have lost 26 lb since beginning this process and now with the surgery sure I will have the rest gone in no time. Now I have a tool to help me keep it off.

Understand your waiting until after your sisters wedding to have your surgery and for the Mood and Food group you have joined. You can already begin on losing what you can before surgery!!! My hat is off too you!

Congratulations!  I live in PA too!  Fingers crossed I hear something soon too!  Is your support group through the hospital/ surgeon, or did you find it own your own?
