No. Pasta is just a bad idea, imo.

I fight badgers with spoons.

I'm pre-op but I tried this edamame/mung bean pasta from Netrition.com and thought they were pretty good. Better than shiritaki that I have tried in the past.

hi everyone!

I saw saw an add in a weight loss magazine for a pasta that has 17 g of protein and 7 g of fiber per serving ( 2 oz dry)   I know I would not eat an entire cooked serving but the net carbs were low because of the high fiber. Would you guys think this would be ok to add in small portions?

from a quick google search is April pears to be Barilla pasta. It says One  would have to eat ONE FOURTH of the entire box or what they say is two servings ,to get 17 gms of protein. I couldn't determine the protein source, but I wouldn't eat it.

I think there is always a danger in trying to replace our old favorites with new items that are almost the same.  You have not posted the nutrition facts, but some of these pasta replacements, while they may be low carb, are not low calorie.  Calories do count.  It might be better to get used to life without pasta...period.  There are lots of veggies that taste great with traditional pasta toppings (zucchini, spaghetti squash).

People get into trouble trying to replace old favorites.  They start eating sugar free, low carb ice cream or baking sugar free cookies and cakes, all still high in calories.  Remember, the manufacturer is replacing those carbs with something and it's usually not very good for you.  Having them occasionally might work for some, but for others it may be a slippery slope.  It's best to completely change your relationship with  food and not get hung up on what you are missing.  Some of us are emotional eaters and if pasta is a comfort food for you it needs to be addressed.

The fat girl in me screamed, "YES! YES! YES!!"

But I think "no" might be the sensible answer in this case. Pasta is straight-up carbs with a few other nutrients sprinkled in just for kicks.

If you can eat  a tiny portion, then God bless you.
