Possible new forum/group

And once again, Lora is the voice of reason.

As a pre-op, iwas desperate to hear the good, bad, encouraging, scolding truth about how my life was about to change.

I knew that there was something I could learn from everyone ... Even if what I was learning was "I don't want to be like that'.

I followed the advise of the most successful losers and livers, and then I became one of them.

Maintaining over a 100 pound weight loss for 5 years, with the least successful tool out there.

Well done, Lora. This post is spot on in my book!

You deactivated and are still posting.  What a dorky thing to do.  Stop acting like a wuss and post under your screen name. It's not like we all don't know who you are.

  • Since you love this idea and Modest Phoenix seem on the fence about it,why don't you start this group?

Starting a new forum is a nice idea, however making it unique enough so that people will join & stay active on it can be very challenging & you'll need a lot of patience. Your group can get lost in the hundreds of other groups/forums on here. Some groups are hard to find, some forums are virtual ghost towns.

Remember what one might consider safe or positive support, someone else can take a different view on it & "offend" someone or be offended. You can't please everyone, people are who they are, it's just how it is. Good Luck if you decide to go forward.

I belong to a Facebook Sleeve group.  If the mod doesn't like a person's tone, she lets them know.  If they keep it up, they are blocked.  Aren't posts moderated here?  Is there a problem with the tone of some here?  Aren't we all adults? Simple do unto others sane talking? I would join.  I see other groups here I want to join also.  I simply ignore Internet snarks.  They're everywhere. Never let an Internet troll get to you.  They thrive on it.  Ignoring them stops them.

There's certainly interest in having a new group where people feel safe to share and not intimidates by others.  I'm not getting what I need from this particular online community outside of the articles so I'm not certain I will be sticking around.  Time will tell.

My WLS path will most likely be very different from the main line of thinking here and I think my best source for community and support will be with others who share the same way or at the very least an understanding of it so I am switching from OH to another group where the monitors are active and rules of conduct are followed.  I'm not deactivating this account at this time and will check my inbox for messages so please feel free to contact me there directly if you would like to stay in touch.

Be well and take care.

For those who think it would be a great idea for a "safe" group and plan on sticking around for it to become successful please start one if you can devote the time and energy to it.

I didn't know that.  I'll fix it.  Thanks for the heads up.
