As eating too much popsicles and jello during the preop diet? I can eat several popsicles and jello in one sitting. Feeling like I'll gain weight instead of losing.

The fake sugars might do a number on your stomach - so don't be surprised if you have lots of diarrhea!

I'm not sure about the Popsicle because I dont know the brand but sugar free Jello is only 10 cal a cup so provided your not eating a few dozen a day I wouldn't worry about it.

I would try not to go crazy with them because of the sugar alcohol as the previous poster said, but no I wouldn't worry about gaining weight on them.

It all really depends on the calories. If they are sugar free, each popsicle is around 30 cals, jello around 10 cals per serving. You'd have to be eating a whole lot of them to gain weight. I'm on clear liquids post-op now and when its one of the few foods I can have, you can bet I'm eating several of them a day....usually around 5-6.

Like someone said above, I think some of the alcohols in the sugar-free stuff can cause intestinal upset for some people. Before I had to start clear liquids, I ate some sugar free fudgesicles which I think is what caused me to have an unusual amount of gas for me at the time.

SF popsicles were basically how I got a lot of my liquids in during the first few weeks.  I could not drink water, only Crystal Light, but it took weeks before I could make my liquid goals without popsicles.  I could only eat one in a sitting though.
