Yes I just spoke with my psychopharmacologist  I am going to see him tomorrow. I recently started getting tremors from one of the medications. He pinpointed which one, so we are gonna sit down and switch up my meds tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

Are you seeing a therapist in addition to a psychiatrist?  Are you treating the iron deficiency with a hematologist?  I know that it sucks to have to see medical people all the time, but definitely get with your PCP and figure out a plan to conquer these things!  You can do it.

I am not seeing a therapist just a psychopharmacologist who prescribes my medications. My surgeon did labs on me a couple weeks ago and found that I have Iron deficiany anemia. I am taking an iron supplement for this. I also have hypothyroid that we are getting under control with my pcp. Thanks for the help!

I'd definitely consider adding a therapist to your team, then!  It might help.

Congratulations on your Wedding and the LapBand.  I have been banded since October 2008.  Check your vitamin D, after my surgery mine has always been very low, and switch around your iron supplements it took me a few to find one that my body absorbs I use Ferralet 90 and it has really helped me.  But for some people pills just dont work they need liquid or infusions (my Mom).

You have a lot going on, try and focus on the joy of finding the love of your life and your wedding.  And honestly for the eating thing I just go day by day, and sometimes meal by meal.  I try to remind myself that eating is not an emergency, it can wait an hour or two (helps me with snacking), I drink hot herbal tea (takes longer to consume since it is hot), and remind myself that cravings happen in the present, and there is no such thing as satisfying previous or future cravings.  This helps me not binge eat after one bad decision during my day.

Hi,

My surgeon ordered a bunch of labs on me, my vitamin D is good. I started taking an iron supplement but it makes me so nauseous. I also have hypothyroidism which we are trying to get under control.

I have that also! It took forever to get my dosage down, I now take 25 levothyroxn once a day and Monday, Wed, and Friday I take two. It is probably the combination of the two issues making you feel sluggish.  Good luck getting the dosage down and dont give up once they are in order you will hopefully feel much better.

You have so many things going on!  Congratulations to you for your accomplishments and on getting married.

I remember feeling like I was being pulled 1 million directions.  Looking back I wish I would have slowed down.  Today I know I don't have to do it all, be everything to everyone and that taking care of myself is very important. If I don't take care of myself, I cannot care for anyone else.

I agree with starting with your physical health and taking a look at absorption of the vitamins and minerals and having your thyroid tested. I'm not saying that you don't have depression, anxiety and ADHD but that the fact that they are getting worse can have so many causes and seeing if slowing down and taking care of you gives you some renewed energy. Our physical health is directly tied to our mental health or taking care of our minds.

Good luck on your appointment with the pharmapsychologist!  I see a psychiatrist PA and she's amazing.  She has helped tremendously but she also consistently reminds me that medications are only a piece of the puzzle and that, if I ever really want to live a drug free life, then I HAVE to go to counseling to be able to be equipped to deal with my depression and anxiety and any left over emotional baggage.  Obviously my approach to dealing with emotional issues is what led to me needing surgery in the first place and gaining weight is a big red flag that I still have more work to do! ;-)

She also said she sees quite a few people who are 2-4 yrs out from WLS that "all of a sudden" have emotional issues that they'd never had before and have no idea how to manage.  We agreed that it's highly likely those same people just never realized they had one or more of the issues because they'd be using food to medicate.  I struggled with some depression pre-WLS but anxiety?! No way!  Umm... actually turns out I have more than my fair share but I'd always used Mt Dew to silence it!! ;-)

So now I'm tasked to figure out how to live boldly and courageously during my times of stress - but to thrive through those stressful times without food or soda or some other equally destructive coping mechanism.  With work and school and being a mom and getting ready to get married... I highly recommend finding a good counselor to help you navigate that as well.  Even "great stress" is still stress! Better to proactively get ahead of it!!

Congrats on taking action to go to the pharmapsychologist - keep us updated!! (And congrats on all the exciting things you've got going on!)
