Met my goal..... Now I'm just gaining the weight back
Hi everyone! I had lapband Surgery in 2010. I've always had a history of depression, ADHD and anxiety and have always been on medication for this. Recently over the last couple years I had to change medicstions because they just stopped working. I also got diagnosed with a mood disorder. Things just seem to be getting worse as far as my mental health. So I had to start new medications they help but I keep gaining weight. I also have iron defiancy anemia, work full time, go to school and take care of my wonderful son do needless to say I'm fatigued and exchausted all the time. Plus the medications I'm on all have drowsiness as side effects. I'm also getting married in 2 months. I'm having such a hard time trying to work out. I'm not sure if I should stop my meds so I have more energy and can lose weight or stay on the meds and have a difficult time losing weight. Anyone have any suggestions or feedback that would be great! Thanks!
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. How exciting

Don't go off your meds! That's the worst thing you can do to yourself right now with so much on your plate. Since psych meds take several weeks to start to work, changing things up takes time and commitment and can wreak havo****il the right ****tail is found. And many do cause weight gain which sucks. It's more important to have the right meds than to be thin. Once you find what works for you, then you can adjust your eating and workouts as you need, but PLEASE don't go off the psych meds. Take them as seriously as you would medication for any other life threatening illness.

Yes I just spoke with my psychopharmacologist I am going to see him tomorrow. I recently started getting tremors from one of the medications. He pinpointed which one, so we are gonna sit down and switch up my meds tomorrow. I spoke with my surgeon also she just told me to f/up with my psychopharmacolgist. Thanks for the help!
Not only do you have a lot on your plate, but you've got some things working against you, too.
See a hemotologist about the iron. An infusion will help tremendously with your energy.
See your psych about your meds. A change in dosage may be all you need to lessen the side effects, or you may need a different med all together. Just communicate with them before you take it upon yourself to stop any prescribed meds.

Don't go off your meds on your own. Make an appointment with the physician that prescribed your meds to discuss your concerns, and your anemia. Your meds and iron issues are the most important right now since they are impacting your life so much. With depression, ADHD and anxiety that aren't medicated, those issues will arise and you'll probably feel worse.
You have so much going on with being a full-time student, getting married and taking care of your son. Take care of yourself so you're better and able to enjoy your life.

I agree with the others, stopping your meds on your own is no bueno. (Been there, done that!) Make an appointment with your psychiatrist to go over your medications, since there are lots of choices out there. Maybe you can find something different that's more weight-neutral for you and doesn't make you so groggy.

Wonderful! I've had hand tremors from one of my meds (Abilify I think?) and it was a pain. Hope things go well for you tomorrow!

Yes ill feel much better after I see him. I take trileptal and notices tremors in my hands a couple weeks ago, they just keep getting worse. I will let everyone know how things go. Thanks for the support, Its nice to have a support group like this. I stopped coming on here a couple years ago but I think I'll start again. Its nice to be able to have people to talk to that may be going through the same things
Thanks!!
