Fever

So I woke up yesterday with a big headache and with the chills, I went to the ER and said I was running a fever of 101.6. They did blood work, checked my urine, x-rays of my chest and tummy finally a spinal fluid test ( to rule out meningitis ). Everything came back normal, I havent had a fever of 101.6 but last I checked it was 99.4. They said that it was a virus and it would resolve on its own. I'm 4 weeks post op rny by the way, so my question is has this happened to anyone, is it normal, should I be worried? One more thing, I have no belly pain just a bit nauseous that's it. Thanks in advance!!

Presumably you chose an ER you have confidence in since this wasn't life and death and you could make decisions, you had every test including a spinal tap--which they do not do just for kicks, and they all came back normal....why would you even further ask virtual strangers???  While some like to play health professionals, most are not.

Trust your doctors or worry about finding ones you can rather than this..... WLS is a lifetime change and marathon, you need people you can trust.

So you have a fever, chills, headache and slight nauseated stomach?  i call that the flu. Yes.  I have had the flu before.

My advice would be to call the surgeon and/or your PCP, let them know what happened and ask what you should do.  They will be the ones who will know best.  I hope you feel better soon.

Putting a call in to the CDC might be in order.

My PCP says that anything below 100.6 is not a 'real' fever .....

Pas others have said, sounds like a touch of the flu.

Rest, fluids and lots of NCAA basketball for a few days should help!

NCAA Basketball makes everything better!

Sounds like flu. Maybe best to avoid spreading it by going to hospitals etc..

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!
