Green smoothies yay or nay for you?
PLus she never got to her goal.. (based on her own admission she only lost 70lbs and she was OK with that.. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/amos/5306417/Weight-regai n/#44567276

I just can't bring myself to make green smoothies. I have added a handful of spinach to a protein shake and didn't taste the spinach at all. The color didn't change at all, but I see people at work with the totally green shakes and there's no way I could drink them.
I am 6 1/2 years out having RNY. I eat vegetables and fruits and have had no problem. I tend to eat berries mostly and only once a day.
Follow your doctor's plan. I wonder about the person beating you to a pulp with her comments. She is really being harsh and it's uncalled for.
I understand that you have no issues eating fruits and veggies..
I also recall you posted about originally losing only 70 lbs and wanting to lose an additional 20.. plus regaining 12..
did you ever reach your goal? I understand you may be happy just losing 70 lbs ..(and since most insurance typically require 100 lbs or so excess weight to be approved), but not everyone would be happy to lose only 70% of EWL..
The OP may listen to you unless she wants to lose and maintain close to 100% of EWL. As is can be a case for some of us, long term post op WLS.
I know I lost down to and below my goal. I gained some back, because i introduced too many fruits into my diet. But then I lost the regain and I maintain with over 90lbs weight loss.
(BTW - my goal weight was too low for my body frame and my age, so I adjusted that by 10 lbs)

Only 70 lbs. Guess I should dig a hole and crawl in. I was off all meds except Synthroid, happy with how I looked and able to shop in the Misses Dept. Yes, I did gain 12 lbs. but most of that is off and I'm working to get to my original goal.
I realize I am the ONLY WLS patient to regain.....NOT. I really don't owe you or anyone else any explanations of my eating plan.
So wonderful that you lost 100 lbs. and although you regained 10 lbs., it was necessary.
How does it feel to be a saint?

I honestly don't think HalaB meant to be nasty. She is simply saying that we have different expectations.
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Very cowardly JB114 responded to me then blocked me.
I guess she does not like begging called on her eatinghabbits - foods that probably prevented her from reaching goal and then regain.
I have no issues with someone eating more carbs, as long as they also disclose that they never reached the goal.

My doc recommends not drinking your calories, as others have said. He also said nothing is really a no-no, but to eat clean, healthy foods including butter, not margarine, and real sugar in small amounts, not substitutes, nothing processed. Even breads in small amounts, but I simply do not do breads. I find this great advice as it trains me to eat a healthier diet as a lifelong behavior. I do eat my dense protein first and I eat delicious, fresh veggies and fruit. I just saw my primary care doc last week and she says she now considers me a healthy person, no longer diabetic, no HBP, no GERD. And I'm happy. I still have more to lose, but I look forward to it and to life after weightloss.
Garth Davis was not my doctor, but I have been to some of his support meetings, which he usually attends. I think he, like my wonderful doc, promotes a healthy LIFE. And yes, despite that ignorant, belligerent bully and her old school thought processes, Dr. Garth is still a pretty big deal! Ignore her and block her. She's a prison guard. Enough said.

Ah so now you get to call people names because you think they are being a bully that's nice.
If you took the time to read the posts you would see that she is trying to explain and help the OP who seems to think the smoothies are OK. The OP doesn't want to hear that they are full of carbs which most of us know is a big no no in the weightloss stage.
I thought Poodlemac had the "ignorant, belligerant bully" blocked? How the heck does she know what is being posted? Blocking someone and then commenting about them is chicken****
If you have something to say to or about someone unblock them - don't read around the block and then berate them!
ETA: Feel free to quote me so Poodlemac knows exactly how I feel about her cowardice - she has me blocked too LOL!

Is that what is happening? That is sneaky and cowardly.

Yes, it's very bad etiquette and says more about this poster than it does about the one about whom she is complaining.
Very bad form (as we would say if we were posh )
