I know.  At the moment I am not vegan.  I'm mostly vegetarian and looking into becoming vegan. I like dairy and eat eggs.  Those will be my challenge and possible downfall if I take on the vegan lifestyle.

Why not stay vegetarian for now since you'll still be able to get satiety from dense protein & wait till you reach goal b4 trying the vegan lifestyle?, at least by then if you see the weight creep back up you'll know what you have to change to get back to goal again.

That has been my idea.  I lump vegetarian/vegan together in my posts although I know they are different.  I've said before that I eat cheese and eggs.  Someone took this thread to mean that I am only vegan, which is not true. I still eat a wee bit of fish once a week and my all time favorite meal is corned beef and cabbage which my Mom made the other day so I ate it a few times.  But mostly my food is plant sourced.  My main sources of protein after WLS for a long while will be cheese, eggs, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, and protein powders. I am going to look into hemp protein powders.  Someone suggested that so I have to do some research into it.

I'm going to try a few. Many don't appeal to my tastes. I tend to use less fruit and plain water as the liquid in the smoothies I make. I've not tried any of these so I can't comment on them, but one of my favorite green smoothies has blueberries, spinach, part of a banana, and cinnamon. I could use plain Greek yogurt as protein. And it's not a green color!   I don't have protein powder right now but I have Greek yogurt.  I put them in travel mugs and drink them through straws.

This post was never intended to spiral out of control as it did with the comments.  Chilipepper and I disagree. She's a veteran, I'm new here. I find her tone unfriendly and bullying but that doesn't mean what she has to say isn't valid info for new people.  It simply isn't my path and I will work with doctors who will work with me to be successful in my journey. What I dislike is her condescending attitude toward me. Will I block her? No. Will I continue to post? Yes. There are different paths to the same destination.   What famous person stated about the road less traveled and that making all the difference?  Perhaps my path will be uphill and rocky. It just might offer the best view. I can let you know when I get there.

For those of you *****ached out to me privately or offered compassionate support on this thread, thank you.

They all look delicious but not for people trying to lose weight. I went into a carb coma looking at them. Do you understand the concept of a high protien, low carb diet? Not only are grains and refined sugars loaded with carbs, fruits and vegetables are loaded with them also. From your posts over the last few weeks, I don't think you will be doing yourself any favors having one of these surgeries now. Maybe you should try it your way first and see if you have some success. If not, then revisit the surgical option and understand the concept behind these surgeries.

I say this with only the best of intentions.

I suggest that you reread my origional response.  It was a reply out of concern. You assumed I was condescending because I didnt give you the reponse you wanted to hear.  You need to learn that on web boards you will get varied responses.  Nothing I said was rude or crude...you just feel you are going to trailblaze your way through this process following a program that we all know, WILL NOT produce success.  Eating breads and potatoes and fruits loaded with suger will lead to failure.

Yes, you got a few pats on the back...not one person though agreed with your plans.  I will sit back now and jus****ch.  Like with all preops who feel like they know more...I wish you much success in your journey.  It will be a hard uphill battle with little reward at the end if you continue on this path, but good luck!

You're wrong about my attitude about not getting a response I wanted to hear.  I don't mind that we disagree.  What I mind is the fact that you continue to attack my posts for my path when we disagree.  A few people have reached out to me privately with their own tactics that are similar to what I plan on doing and they have found success.  Perhaps they don't post publicly because of all the backlash and just don't want to deal with the drama.

I'm not a trailblazer. I think Dr. Weiner and Dr. Davis are the trailblazers.  I'm just trying to find the best path for myself.

I've not said I would eat bread after WLS.  I don't know where you got that idea.  I have been eating it during my 6 month supervised weight loss from my PCP because it's allowed on my plan.  I haven't been to a dietician or nutritionist yet and I am sure they will work with me to find a way to make it all work.

If your wish for success and luck is sincere, then I fully accept it.  If it is sarcasm and snark, I still accept it because I know from what others have said about you, both publicly and privately, that you really do want people to be successful.

I don't dump easily, but 18g of sugar in a liquid would definitely make me dump, so I cannot imagine any RNYer drinking them, and the carbs are way too high to fit into any plan for weight loss.  Most people in maintenance also limit their carb intake in favor of calories from protein.

Wouldn't they just slide right through a RNY person?

Yes and it would VERY quickly dump all that sugar into the lower intestine. Nothing is easier to dump on than sugary drinks, even if much of it is from fruit.

I would dump just reading 18g of sugar.  My pulse is rushing just thinking about it!
