Rapid weight loss?

Hello,

I'm 26.  I know that rapid weight loss is not the best way to loose weight and that slow and steady wins the race. However, my BMI is currently 37.2. I need to loose 80 lbs to be on the highest end of a "normal bmi". I don't want to be stick mini skinny, but I do want to be healthy.  I know how to eat properly. I've always been a little chubby since teenage years, BUT nothing like this. I gained over 60 pounds in one year and have been this size for 3 years.  So I'm wondering, if I follow a high calorie restriction along with daily cardio/ something like Pilates (basically eat a small amount while being careful to get the right nutrients)  if I manage to loose obesity at a very excel erased rate then slow down a little throughout the overweight stage of bmi, would I get loose skin?  I just want something to jumpstarting me. I'm currently at 230 and need to be around 150 to even be "normal".

Thanks.

If you lose a massive amount of weight, your skin will be loose no matter how fast or slow your weight changes.

You mention only calorie restriction, have you had bariatric surgery? That's the focus of this site and where your advice will be coming from.

At 26 and at "only" 37 BMI and for not that long, your chances are better than many! But genes play a major part as well.  Prepare for the worst and you may be pleasantly surprised!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Recent studies have found that how fast or slow you lose weight makes NO difference in how long you'll keep it off, or how much loose skin you'll have. Granted, if you lose rapidly your loose skin may be more noticeable---humans just plain perceive rapid change better than we do gradual change. Also, when you lose rapidly, it can take your skin a little while to do whatever shrinking it's going to do.

Keep in mind that when we GAIN weight rapidly, we stretch out our skin. The younger we are, the more natural elasticity we have, so if we don't keep that weight for long, then our skin has a better chance to snap back. But over time, we grow MORE skin to cover our bigger bodies. That skin is pretty much always with us.

1. 20 minute walk ( NOT RUN ) everyday. walking or tread mill speed less then 3.0 possibly with incline will burn fat do not run. running will do cardio. you want weight loss.

2. park far as you can at work, grocery store, use manual door, useless elevator. ( this alone can shave off 5lbs in a year.

3.Drink water at least 8 cups a day. no more pop. diet soda is worst than regualr soda, aspertane is really really not good for you.

4. when you eat. do no****ch tv, talk on the cell phone..etc.. focus waht you are doing, eat! enjoy the flavor. listen to your stomach. when it say i'm full stop

5. let the fork down while chowing!! slow down don't inhale food.

6. eat when you are hungry. do not starve your self. REMEMBER #4.

7. Always leave something on your plate. even if it's a bite.
