in a rut
Aw, that's such a bad place to be. I've been there too and it really sucks. Please, get yourself to a therapist. You've lost what, 100 pounds so far? That's so amazing! If you were weak, you could never have done that! We all have bad days, weeks, months, whatever. But you are a strong person and you can get yourself back on track. This is a marathon, not a sprint, right? The important part isn't how fast you're losing weight, but that you're changing your lifestyle and will reach your goal eventually. :)

Oh my goodness, 100 pounds in 4 months, that's tremendous! Remember, progress not perfection, is the key thing to keep in mind. There's no room for perfect but lots of room for improvement. One day at a time. You've already shown yourself you have the courage and determination it takes. Motivation is like hygiene, it needs to be repeated everyday for good health.

Heya. Are you seeing a therapist? That would be my #1 recommendation to help with the depression! It can be a sneaky hate spiral that leaves you not wanting to do anything - better to address it now when it's still early. :)
As for the gym - I've found that everyone is too busy worrying about their own selves and how they look than to worry about anyone else. Seriously! When I'm working out, I'm so wrapped up in my own little world that the gym could be hit by a tornado and I wouldn't notice. I definitely don't notice the people around me. Except shoes. I always notice shoes. (I'm weird that way.)
Try to focus on the trend of your weight loss and all that you've accomplished so far. I've actually gained a few pounds this week (I know why) but it helps me to remember that I've lost 135 pounds so far and that's amazing. I know what I need to do to get back on track so this is just a bump in the road. Then I'll go back to my currently SLOOOOOOW weight loss. I'm losing a pound a week these days. But, hey, those pounds a week have really added up!

Congratulations on the weightloss so far... you must feel amazing... concentrate on that when the scale doesn't reflect your life changes.
Remember too this is forever... so create a lifestyle you enjoy and can repeat forever versus something you are just trying to get through.
Find some healthy menus you enjoy, fun exercise you want to do (maybe you tube free videos like on https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiP6wD_tYlYLYh3agzbByWQ fitness blender) create a weekly plan and follow that so choices are laid out each day... your decisions are made.
Best to you!! ~Michelle "Shelly"
Regarding the gym…..We qualify for free gym, the only problem is it is the college gym where my DH went to school….and it is an all male college. Talk about intimidation! As it turns out there are hours that thee are few students there and they are extremely nice. They really don't pay any attention to me they are concentrating on themselves. I think people are more concerned about their own work out that you should ignore them. If you do strike up a friendship with someone then it is a win, win situation.
Don't beat yourself up for being depressed. This is a huge, lifelong change, and your biggest coping tool -- food -- is gone.
Do the gym if you can, but focus on any kind of activity. I have a recumbent bike at home, and use it when I watch tv. I walk a lot, but don't go to a gym.
Exercise will make you feel better, but food controls your weight. You know you have been making poor food choices. Focus on those as best you can. I know it's hard, but it's what will help the most.
Check in here every day if you can. It really helps stay accountable.

I feel the same way about the gym! When I first started going, I could only walk on the treadmill for 5 minutes. Overtime I was able to build up more endurance. Don't give u, you have come way too far! Plus, when you go to the gym, I find that people aren't staring at me like I feel they are, its more in my head. Maybe try going when the gym is less busy?
I always have those thoughts when heading to the gym. But I have come to realize that they're just that. My thoughts. People may glance at someone who walka by, but rarely pay any attention to them. Like everyone said, they are focusing on their workout. And on the off chance that someone does notice you they would see someone that is overweight that is working on it. nobody is going to pay attention for long. I remind myself that every time I have those thoughts. Me working this tool I have been given is more important than what might pass through their minds. if you only go twice a week you're better off than not. You can always find home exercises like chair squats, standing crunches and wall push ups on line to do the a couple of days. I also agree with Gwen, if you don't have a therapist, find one. Rhey can hepl figure out the self sabotaging thoughts and what to do with them.
