Why don't we discuss the reality of how Leilani died, she was my idol from the day I joined this site in 2004 and I was horrified when I heard about her tragic death. Why is it such a secret? Why when I mentioned it did I get scolded for discussing "her issue", I met her in 2006 years after her wls and plastics and success and I was scared for her then, she obviously liked to drink and party a lot. Hearing she died young due to alcohol is just a huge reminder and wake up call to everyone, eating and taking vitamins is one thing, but our bodies are fragile and altered and maybe the level of alcohol we drink could be tolerated by someone with normal anatomy we aren't normal and must treat our bodies as if everything we put in is toxic, including alcohol. I had a real life wls friend die this year at 49 years old. Was alcohol a factor there? She started drinking after her weight loss and met someone who liked to drink also. I am sure her family won't share the autopsy results with the world but she may of been another sad tragic alcohol related death.
Kathy, I've had two WLS friends pass away from liver issues due to excessive drinking after RNY. In their cases, it was a direct factor in their deaths according to what their families disclosed from medical tests performed. I have another who has permanent damage to her liver due to alcohol after RNY. She's two years sober but struggles every day. It is definitely a problem that needs to be discussed so that people know it can happen to them. Very sad.
