Deep breaths. Take your charger and favorite Chapstick. You won't need anything else. Get up and walk as soon as you think you can. Walk often. Drink constantly! You got this!

Don't be scared;  your surgical team is all professionals and they take their responsibilities very seriously. They would be highly irritated if anything happened to you besides what they intend.

You'll go to sleep and when you wake up (seconds later, it'll feel like) you'll be on your way.

Remember:  walkwalkwalk, sipsipsip, chewchewchew.  Also, nap as needed.

It's normal to be scared.

As a person who is 14 months out from surgery, I can tell you that I would do it again every year of my life for what I gained this last one.  It's THAT worth it.

See you on the other side.

Hi Doublewide66!  So many good responses already.  I am hoping you are already on the 'other side' now.   These boards are AMAZING.  Keep reading what all the veterans here have to say!  I will say a prayer for you that all went smoothly and was uneventful.  I had my surgery on 2/25 (almost 2.5 weeks ago) and I am amazed at how GOOD I feel.  gas ex strips may be helpful when you get home if your doc says they are OK.  Check in when you feel up to it and let us know how things went!
