protein shake
Everyone's taste is different but my favorite shake is made by BPI Sports and the flavor is Vanilla Caramel. I also really like Cellucor's Cinnamon Swirl and Cookies and Cream. If you buy them at GNC and don't like it then you have the ability to return them (even opened).
BPI Sports #s: 126 cal, 2 g fat, 3g Total Carbs, 25g Protein
Cellucor #s: 130 cal, 1.5 g fat, 4g Total Carbs, 25g Protein (counts vary slightly based on flavor)
What protein shake did you drink during the preop diet? The shake offered at the office is a bit pricey and the doc prefers we drink it because it has all the nutrients and vitamins we will miss out on not eating solids.
I use Syntrax Nectar, several of the flavors.
the reason your surgeon wants you to use the one he stock is because he is either getting a kickback from. The manufacturer,or he is putting a hefty cut for himself on the price of them. That is also why they are so pricey.
I use double rich chocolate from Optimum Nutrition. I make it with unsweetened original almond milk. Yum.

Wait until afterwards because things will taste different and how you tolerate them will also be different. Always drink them ice cold. One of my favorite is Chike brand. It comes in coffee flavor and it's not thick like the others. I double up the scoops from two to four that way I get 40 grams of protein per drink. I use 24 oz of cold water mixed with ice. Spi on all morning!
There is a website called Nashua Nutrition where you can order single serving samples of protein powders. I just ordered a bunch, and I am still waiting to get them in the mail. I picked the flavor that sounded the best from each brand, and they have about 18 different brands available. I don't plan to use them until after surgery though. My plan is to figure out which one is my favorite. Aren't you already getting all the vitamins you need from supplements? I started my vitamins weeks ago. The only protein powder I am using for the pre-op diet is PB2. My program promotes eating whole foods, so protein powders are optional for me until after surgery. I agree that your surgeon must be getting a cut from selling that protein powder.
