Bowel movement issues after RNY Gastric bypass

Hello everyone!

Please stop here if you don't want to hear my TMI about bowel movements.

I have always had irregular bowel movements (2 or 3 times a week) but AFTER my surgery I'm lucky if I go once a week. Now I'm pregnant too and that leads to more constipation. Do anyone have any advice for me. My next appointment to see my surgeon isn't for months and it's very hard to get someone on the line. Any advice is appreciated.

Ive been having a can of prune juice every 3 days or so. I have taken miralax a time or too also.

Possibly add some meta us il or benefiber?

Fiber and water.  I am partial to Citurel fiber because it does not cause gas.

Thanks ladies! I appreciate your help. I've been trying hard to get in more water. Every since surgery I'm scared of drinking too much and having it "come up". I've heard the worst stories ladies. Lol. I'm definitely trying to get more water in though. Thanks again.

I take miralx daily.  It is not suppose to be habbit forming.

Another option that has worked for me is taking the Metamucil capsules daily.

Miralax is my savior.  I'm not sure if you're allowed to take it when you're pregnant?  Ask your doc.  It's been a life-saver for me.  I've always had horrible constipation and very painful hemhoroids (sp) but Miralax makes everything easier (literally) :)  Good luck xoxo

High protein = low fiber.

low fiber = hard to poo.
