Hi beckyp0320,
You can always get another opinion if you have your heart set on the VSG. I am not sure what you have heard about RNY that would have you so freaked out. I had it 10 years ago, it saved my life and NO REGRETS!
Usually we are afraid of things we don't know much about. Here are some links that will help you research the RNY procedure. May we suggest you also post on the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum (RNY) to reach out to those that have had the surgery you may have.

A lot of friends have done the "watch out I had a friend do this and die" it gets to you when you've heard it 2 or 3xs...My doctor is from what I have read and been told the best in FL, I trust their judgements, I mean they are the medical professionals!
I am a little scared of dumping syndrome as well and if it will happen to me and how bad it will be if I do get it. I am looking forward to the surgery though and what it can do for my diabetes :)

I has the sleeve and my diabetes went into remission the evening of the morning of surgery. It. Has been normal for the last 7 years.
If you have hormone issues,I would thing the sleeve would be better anyway.
I had the rny 9/15 and have not had any dumping. I have had a couple of bites of pie (4) and they have not made me sick. I also had type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I am off medication for both of those conditions. The key is to be strict in what and how much you eat, but so worth it. Good luck!
