Salads
Are salads allowed after surgery....after recovery time? I know we need to eat protein first, but what if it has chicken, egg, or cheese in it.
Why on earth would you do something like that?

The lettuce is just a food delivery vehicle, right? I mean, you aren't actually eating the lettuce?

Let me tell you my opinion on most salads - at least the salads I see here in the Midwest: it's a total bowl of crap that people eat to make themselves feel like they are eating "healthy". Take away the lettuce (a nutritional waste of space in your stomach), the croutons, the fake bacon bits, the cheese and loads of dressing...what are you left with? About 1/4 cup of raw veggies and a couple ounces of pure meat protein. If you're lucky.
You're much better off eating the protein and raw veggies and throwing the rest of the garbage away. It does nothing for you nutritionally and takes up valuable real estate in your tiny tummy that can be better used for more nutritionally dense food.
End of rant...:-)
I love you Tracy.
A while back, I was at a chain restaurant. Applebees, maybe? They had three or four salads on the menu that had over 1,400 calories each. Yet, the vast majority of people would say salads are healthy. ALL of the steaks and burgers were lower calorie than the salads.
You could eat TWO double quarter pounders with cheese at McDonalds for the same amount of calories, or FOUR bacon double cheeseburgers at Burger King. And NO ONE would agree those were healthy options.
