Dr.'s dietary sheet for after surgery. Is this similar to what your dr. gave you?

No. Not in any way.

But then I can't even see which surgery you are having and that makes a difference. Anyway, what others have is irrelevant. We are non-medically qualified strangers on the Internet. Your doctor isn't.

Just stick to your plan, work with your doctor and I am sending you my best wishes!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Actually, isn't there a problem for you? You posted, if I remember correctiy, that you are currently almost vegetarian and plan to become vegan. You said your surgeon supported that. Can he give you a more appropriate plan? Apart from anything else, meeting protein needs from non-meat sources requires higher volumes of food so you are going to have to eat more often to get the balance as quantities at each meal will be so small.

What he said was that he tells me what to eat for three months and then I can make my own choices and that vegetarian/vegan would be complimentary to the surgery.  He didn't offer anything else.  To be honest, he was not that interested in me at all or anything I asked.  He seemed put off by questions telling me to Google things and to read his website.  I was very unnerved by that, and the fact he would barely make eye contact.  He was more interested in putting information into his laptop than he was in developing a rapport with me.  I'm going to see if my insurance will pay for another initial consultation with a different surgeon.

You have to have total trust in the man/woman who is going to stick knives into you!! So may be a good idea to see another surgeon!

To be honest, a vegetarian lifestyle is hard enough post op. A vegan lifestyle is not complimentry to post op life. I would seek a surgeon.  Sounds like he is just saying what you want to hear instead of being truthful.

Small bites is the key. I found out the hard way. Plus lots and lots of water. Good luck.

My insurance will pay for another initial consultation with another practice as long as my PCP will refer me to them.  This time I am picking a practice with three doctors; they have several classes that I need to attend- 3 pre-surgery and 1 post surgery, and an active support group. Ironically, when I asked Dr. Ignored My Concerns about a support group he said there was one at the hospital where he performs the surgeries.  When I looked into it I found there's a bariatric physicians group that the support group is through.  I'm going to check them out and then ask my PCP for a referral if I think they will be a good fit. Today I called the office of the first surgeon I met with and told his office staff I would not be coming back.  If I end up super happy with the group he inadvertently referred me to I just might send him a thank you card.
