Dr.'s dietary sheet for after surgery. Is this similar to what your dr. gave you?
Mostly, was never restricted on coffee... or ham or bacon. My surgeon never comes out and says don't have carbs, his mantra is - Protein first then veggies and then if you have enough room, fruits and starches---So starches are last on the list. He also does not have you counting calories. Count protein and water.

He did mention three bites of protein to one bite of vegetables and the bites should be very small, like the size of my thumb nail. I thought that was a bit ridiculous. Do people really eat with baby utensils? That was his suggestion.

Yes and that's a smart suggestion.

Some people eat with baby utensils. I didn't. I just took small bites.

If you take large bites, you may very quickly find it s NOT ridiculous advice! I have never used baby utensils but take small bites.
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I have to learn to take small bites, chew food well, and slow down. And how to sip instead of gulp. When I kept reading about taking small bites I never imagined they would have to be that tiny. I feel like I am floundering around right now. I've been watching videos and reading a lot about VSG but I am having a hard time making the connection how it will be for me. Right now everything seems very abstract and big picture and the details aren't sinking in just yet.

I never used "baby dishes or baby utensils"....The "dramatic" time I recall not using "baby bites" I was about 6 weeks out...eating tender grilled chicken...talking, when I should have chewing...chicken got "stuck"...coughed/harked/carried on/got the foamies/carried on some more/chicken finally went down...
That was almost 13 years ago...I still get the foamies, just THINKING about it...seriously !

Sounds like good advice to me. I ate with "appetizer" forks and spoons when I got past liquids. Now I tend to use a salad fork.

No. I was only one clear liquids while in the hospital, then on full liquids when I went home. I was advised to start my vitamins as soon as I went home, which is what what American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery recommends.
