Therapy/Counseling After WLS
Not to take away from going to a Therapist, but support groups can be very helpful too. I go to 3-4 support groups a month. 2 at the hospital and 2 community ones. Even just listening to other people's problems helps. I know not all support groups are good, but check them out.

It's crucial - there's not a single person who goes into the process that doesn't eat for reasons other than hunger. And don't believe for a second that surgery is going to change your desire to eat birthday cake, cookies, or whatever the hell you enjoy eating when under stress/unhappy/sad/angry, etc. It doesn't....ever.
You'll need other tools in your toolbelt to work through the head issues that go along with compulsive eating. I would suggest you get a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. I also go to a 12-step program for compulsive eaters (OA = Overeaters Anonymous).
I would never - and I mean NEVER - have been successful with the surgery without those other tools. I would have found a way to completely **** it up.
Load up your toolbelt now, Melanie!
