WLS and medication that does not come in liquid
I was in a bad car accident in 2009 that left me disabled and in constant pain which has left me fairly immobile and I have packed on the weight. I qualify for surgery but worried about what I have read about not taking pills after surgery. I am on multiple medications but my time released opiates are uncrushable. Anyone had to deal with this? I take 6+ pills just in the morning and at night and a few more a couple ties a day depending on my pain level. Help.....
I don't know which surgery you are considering but I had RNY and was able to swallow all my meds just 12 hour after my operation. If you have RNY, they do recommend not using time released meds because you have a shortened digestive tract and they pass through before they are fully absorbed. But taking pills was never a problem for me. Opiates should be available in liquid for, though, or even by injection.

Some surgeons recommend liquid or chewable meds for the first few weeks or months. Others don't think that is necessary. I was able to take pills immediately.
