why are my posts not showing up?

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

For the last week, there is usually a several minute lag before posts show up. This is leading a lot of people to double post, thinking the first one didn't go through.

Another issue with alcohol is cross-addiction.  Sometimes WLS'ers will change from food to alcohol (shopping, gambling, etc.)  Something to be aware of regarding alcohol.

I have had a few glasses of wine since WLS. My doctor said I could if I wanted to. After drinking the wine I was really buzzed and wanted to eat something.

Now I just see it as empty calories. I didn't like the way it made me feel either. The eating after drinking scared the crap out of me. I don't want to be a statistic of WLS failure.

I agree with the others saying that you should wait at least year year. What's more, alcohol is really high in calories.

Had surgery at Nordbariatric, with surgeon A. Maleckas.

My doctor said none until I hit my goal weight and even then it would not be worth the empty calories.

Hi Melanie,

If you do a search on this subject you will find this has been asked a lot and some members end up having serious issues with cross addiction.

Everyone has given you great advice.  I had 2 glasses of wine once, and ended up in the ER.  My liver enzymes were off the charts and they thought I had liver cancer since they were not educated about WLS.

When and if you decide to enjoy a glass of wine, do so at home with family or friends until you see how your body reacts. If you find you are getting a serious high off of one glass tread lightly as this can turn into a problem for you before you know it.

Keep us posted on how you are doing

Thank you all! Very good information for me. Thankfully I have never been a big drinker so giving up alcohol forever will be no big deal. I think that seems like the best decision at this point from what I have read.
