WOW! Tonight Pauline you sure did make My 600 lb life for the record books.  I watch this show every week getting all the information I can before my surgery but Pauline you sure take the cake. This is what happens when people think that WEIGHT LOSS SURGERIES are a FIX ALL...... they are not; they are a chance to help us get our life back on track so we can get our health back on track. We have many hoops to jump through before the surgery which I don't see them having to do on this show which is sad; but we will have many more hoops to jump through the rest of our lives after the surgery so if we are not ready for this journey than we must think twice about having this surgery in the first place. It has taken three times jumping through the hoops & allowing myself to listen to family & friends negative opinions regarding this surgery to change my mind but now this the third time I am doing this surgery for ME & MY health no one else.

Yes, helionoftroy did you ever see such a sad, sad kid. He didn't look like he look his mommy but how could he? It's one thing for a daughter to care for her mother but a 21 year old man should not have to be washing & dressing his mother. Pauline was 500 pounds when he was two years old so this poor boy has never had a life he has taken care of his mom all of his life. Doesn't Pauline realize that her selfish life of love with food and eating until she can't get out of bed which made her son a prisoner in his own home to care for a form of child abuse; since he is only 21 years old this had to have been going on since he could care for her?

Pauline is what the vets see when someone comes to OH saying things like, "That candy bar I ate made the scale move" or "I know how my body works better than my surgeon does, so I'll make my own plan and do it MY way".  Sometimes they will say things like, "I eat everything I want, but smaller portions.  I can't understand why I'm not losing weight".  If obese people knew what a proper portion size looked like, we wouldn't need to have WLS.  Those people *****FUSE to follow their surgeon's plans are a BIG, RED, FLAG to all the vets who have watched people fail their WLS through the years.  Then when the vets call out their bad behavior, they dig their heels in and try to justify what they are doing....just like Pauline did.

If they don't wake up and realize that they don't know more than their surgeon, they will fail.  Nobody is a "special snowflake" where weight loss is concerned.  We all lose weight the same way.  There are lots of people out there that are making a fortune writing books about how "everyone is different" or "this new supplement will make you lose weight" but the science is simple.  Calories in vs. calories out.  And the body burns carbs first before it starts burning fat.  That's why we need to stay low carb when we eat.  The surgeon told Pauline NO RICE, BREAD, OR PASTA and then they showed her eating rice and tortillas telling the cameraman, "It's not about the carbs, it's about the portion size and I'm eating WAY less"...compared to what?  She lost 6 pounds when the doctor told her she should have lost 60.

What bothered me the most about Pauline was all the excuses she made for why she couldn't get her ass out of bed or her motorized wheelchair.  I felt sorry for that kid.  His whole life he has heard, "Can you do this for me?" from his mother.  I bet as soon as he was old enough to understand, his mother had him fetch and carry for her instead of getting up and doing it herself.  So sad.

When she was in the hospital for months after surgery (because she wouldn't get her ass out of bed) I wanted to shout "run, Dylan, run!"  That poor man looked so defeated - I wanted to slap her upside the head - selfish, selfish selfish woman!

I haven't seen it ( forgot to DVR it ), but from the comments here, she sounds like Penny 2.0.

It was worse than Penny if you can believe that.  I have never seen the doctor more frustrated than with Pauline.  I know this may sound wrong - but I was hoping he wouldn't do surgery on her after she failed to do any of the pre-op weight loss she was supposed to do.  I mean there has to be some accountability and going in to it - she had none, just didn't even try.  I feel so bad for her son.  If what we saw on camera was bad (her refusing to walk, eating what she wanted, refusing physical therapy and lying about it) imagine what she put her son through when he wouldn't give her the food she wanted.  Just an ugly person inside in my opinion.

I agree!  I felt really sorry for her son.  He looked so sad and worn down.

She just frustrated me, I can only imagine how her doctor and caregivers felt.

She wanted a magic pill. And she is delusional and selfish. And what's worse is she will die and her son will have what to fall back on. I hope she gets a huge life insurance for him
