Am I Doing Something Wrong Post Op?
This makes me feel so much better that this was also your experience. I guess
i have just been paranoid that being able to take in a lot more than I expected means my pouch is too big or the surgery wasn't effective. Your words come as a relief to me. I have a 1 week follow up appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday, so I will express my concerns and see what he says.

I am day 6 post op and am doing very well. No nausea and no throwing up. I am getting in my 3 protein drinks daily and total more than 50 oz liquid. No hunger and not feeling overly full. I too wondered if my pouch was to large but feel better hearing your experience. I just sip water all day long. Looking forward to starting pureed food Tuesday.
No bowel movement for about 10 days. I did a 2 week liquid diet pre-op. A bit concerned with no BM but am following the plan to the letter. Keep up the good work!! Looking forward to following your progress.

Hi all!
i had VSG on 2/17/15. I have had zero nausea from day one and after only a couple of days, I do not feel any restriction or pain when i drink liquids. I also don't feel full. I can drink with no problems whatsoever and I am constantly feeling thirsty, so I can drink more than the 2-4 oz /per hour liquid requirement with no issues whatsoever. I am hitting my daily 60gms of protein goal with the shakes. I am on the 1 week post op liquid diet and I am allowed to eat applesauce and baby food prunes with medication. I could eat both containers likely with no problem if I allowed myself to, but I didnt.
i had been having pain, but it is minimal now and mostly is just in a couple of the incision sites on my left side, as well as some lessening back pain, most likely from gas.
obviously these seem to be good things, but I am becoming worried because my stomach is growling and I feel hungry, plus drinking liquids has been no problem for me whatsoever. Am I doing something wrong? Why am I not feeling super full and not having a hard time getting liquids in? Shouldn't I feel overwhelmingly full? And why is my stomach growling with pain in the mornings when I wake up? I really want this tool to work. Please tell me what is going on because I am concerned that my stomach isn't small enough or something .
you are just fine. Not everyone has a terrible time post op,I didn't,and just between you and me ,I have to wonder how many ppl are using having a hard time to get attention.
You won't feel restriction till you get to solids and you really can't drink too much too fast cause it flows into your sleeve and right on out the other side. Drink all you can and be glad.
Same thing here for me! I had surgery 2/18 and I'm not having a problem taking in liquid I can drink more than the 4oz per hr too I also was wondering why I don't feel any restricting at all? I don't think your doing anything wrong I was told that when I start solid foods, I'll start to feel the restriction! Now I haven't been hungry at all! But when my stomach growls or bubbles it's normally trapped gas im walking the recommended 3x's a day and it's coming out but it's still a little left! I'm sure your pouch not being small enough isn't the case everything is so new right now im sure as the diet advances you'll figure things out more!
Please take a deep breath, relax and thank your lucky stars. You seem to have had a complication free surgery and recovery. And the other things you are experiencing are totally normal!
You won't feel any restriction or feel "full" until you start solid foods so make sure you stick to the amounts your doctor advised you to eat - no cheating! Stomachs can "growl" at you because of the excess acid building up, especially in the morning. Excess acid almost always mimcs true hunger pangs. Try popping a couple Tums when you get up and see if than quiets the "growl". If it does you'll need to talk to your doctor about getting on some medication for excess acid (Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix).
All of your responses make me feel so much better. I also think I was having a weird "freak out" as I wasn't totally myself in my own head that day. The pain meds made me a little loopy lol.
The growling of the stomach has persisted and it is quite painful in the morning.
I have increased my liquids to about 50-60 ounces of water each day.
I am drinking 2 protein shakes each day, Plus eating a little yogurt with my meds, totaling my protein intake to about 65 grams of protein each day.
I have eaten baby food prunes a couple times to assist in a bm, but with no luck, I will turn to colace.
I'm going to be a little more patient and let things run their course. I am glad to know I am sharing the same experiences as others on here.

My stomach was growly and sore every morning for MONTHS after surgery. I had to keep a snack in my nightstand to eat when I got up to pee in the middle of the night!
