Sublingual tablets/drops?

Injection?

Nasal spray?

What made you decide on the one you take?

Injections.  they are easy to do, I only have to do them every other week, and I didn't like the taste of the sublinguals I tried.

Celebrate Sublinguals, They are pretty sweet, but I don't mind.

At the moment I use a powder that I add to my shake. My b12 has been good in my labs so far, so it seems to be okay for me for now. I'm keeping an eye on things. Base on my own research, I could find no good reason why a VSGer needs a sublingual option.

BComplex pill form, smell is horrible...had one injection and numerous bags of vitamins, nutrients needed, now trying to get what I need by multi-vitamin/mineral and extra B in the complex. At one time could not tolerated swallowing large pills, especially the ones that are timed released...so I did use to have the kind of meds that dissolved on the tongue..I just think each surgery/person/situation is different, unique to each individual..no right or wrong per say.

Gwen, the VSG removes the portion of the stomach that produces Intrinsic Factor, which B12 needs to bind with to be absorbed, if taken orally.  So a sublingual option gets the B12 into the bloodstream without having to go thru the digestive system.

To the OP, I take Trader Joe's sublingual once a week.  Little teeny pink pill that breaks down nicely.  A bit of flavor, can't really tell what it is because the pill is so small, but not objectionable.

I have been using the Twinlabs B12 sublingual "dots" for the last 7 years. They come in a 5000 unit done that I only have to take once per week and therefore one bottle lasts me an entire year AND only costs about $15 (which is about what one monthly injection costs)!

They are small, round, flattened pills that dissolve very quickly.  I bought some Bariatirc Advantage ones that were very rough (they actually made the underside of my tongue sore!) and they took forever to dissolve.

Injection, 1000mcg/month, do it myself.  Easy and painless.

I do the Nascobal nasal spray. It's just once a week and with  the prescription I also get my multivitamin, iron and calcium for free. Through my insurance it's a $20 copay.
