You don't have to be a perfect patient to be successful. Yes, you need to follow your surgeon's guidelines and yes being compliant will make you more successful. But, no one on this site has been 100% perfect 100% of the time.

HELL YEAH!!!! Whoot whoot for you! I love when people get other folks together politely and respectfully! I've also noticed the person who trolls with negativity everytime I get on im like why you so mad? Please take your mad ass to the nearest corner and have several seats lmao!! But anyways who cares about cheating this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change its all about balence and moderation if we were all so great and successful at losing weight we wouldn't have needed surgery or be on a weight loss forum!

We will see you on the other side of your surgery since you seem to know everything.   Don't come here asking what you did wrong and why your not losing and your hair is falling out in clumps.  You will be saying, damn I should have listened to the vets around here and not made up your own rules.

Its not about balance and moderation.  There are pretty straight forward guidelines that need to be followed but you go girl. You do it your way.

The "everything in moderation" rule is not one you'll hear from surgeons (generally speaking). If you've got a surgeon who says things like alcohol, carbs, sweets or the like are fine in limited amounts-- especially fresh off the operating table-- that's the first surgeon I've seen to do so, otherwise that rule is all you. :)

Never said "everything" in moderation either, I said it's about balence and moderation I didn't say or imply anything about having carbs or liquor moderately so go somewhere with that!   As for the so called rule I made up..... Wrong again!! My dietition whom I've been seeing for the past 6 months and I've lost 55lbs without surgery under her care told me it's about balance and moderation, and of course she wasn't talking about carbs, liquior or anything bad she hardcore and don't play! But her name is Valery Kane RD works at slim life solutions give her a call or schedule an appointment and I'm sure she'll tell you the same thing (916) 423-2116 blooppppp!

Yes, my dietitian and therapist believe in balance and moderation too. However, both of these women do not have the same psychological struggles with food as the people on these forums do. In my opinion and experience, balance and moderation comes after a LONG time of following strict rules that will get us physically healthy. Then, and only then (in my opinion), should we all be dipping our toes in the "balance and moderation" pool after we've spent a tremendous amount of time getting mentally/emotionally healthy.

The fact of the matter is that a lot of people that come onto the forums and cheat on pre-op diets, test the waters after surgery to see what they can tolerate, and try to practice this "balance and moderation" right out of the gate will never get close to achieving the goals they set out for themselves when they start this process.

Ok that's very understandable when you put it like that! My whole point was that i wasn't making my own rules up. I've been under the care of a team for sometime now and I didn't opt for a dietitian just to qualify for WLS for insurance purposes, I pay out of my pocket and will continue to work with her and my team after my surgery because I take this very serious! I too had that same attitude when it was suggested to me that I seek help from dietitian first before considering wls, I was like "what can this person who probably has never gained an extra lb in life tell me about weight loss" that kinda attitude got me to over 400lbs as well! But I've learned a lot about myself and about food and habits my dietitian works strictly with WLS parients, a bariatric cordinator and bariatric surgeon, so Im sure she know her stuff!
