Tough Love and dying......
awesome post. And then there are the ppl who need surgery but are "scared of going under the knife". I can't understand for the life of me,why they aren't scared to go under the knife to have their legs cut off an inch at a time. Why aren't they scared to have their kidneys burn out and have to have dialysis two times every week.
Why aren't they scared of being blind when diabetes burns the retinas in their eyes out and they are blind.
Thank you so much for this dose of reality Everything you said is 100% true and I appreciate your perspective as a nurse in ICU.
I have a SMO friend with diabetes who just had a toe removed. He's back in the hospital again because they believe the infection might have spread to another bone in his foot. He's 40. He won't consider WLS because he doesn't want to give up the ability to eat large quantities of food. Right now he's on yet another "diet," will lose weight, but I wonder how long he will keep it off. Playing Russian roulette with our bodies is something we're great at, but we never think we'll pull the gun when the chamber is loaded.

This post and rocky513's should be required reading for every newbie. I've always taken my surgery to be extremely serious. I don't understand why other newbies don't.

150 lost and maintaining!
Great post saterry. We all feel invincible when we're young. We like to talk about how we may be morbidly obese, but other than that, we're in great health.
It's all like a big game of musical chairs. Sooner or later the music stops, and we'll be standing there with no place to park our big giant asses.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a foot.
