ulcers forced me to now be bulemic

Amber, Every County in the United States has its own Mental Health Association. Vomiting from a physical problem has nothing to do with binging and purging and being bulimic. If you are truly binging and purging and unable to quit smoking in the face of severe medical problems, you need counseling and mental health help to get past this.

No, not every county in the U.S. has a Mental Health Association (much of the US is quite rural), but she should be able to find a mental health resource through her surgeon's office, her PCP, her insurance company, or whatever human services department her city, county, or state has.  (Her surgeon is in Ohio, so I assume that she is in Ohio as well, and Wood County does have a Mental Health Services office.

It took you a year and a half of vomiting and pain -- and "many" trips to the ER for you to seek help from your bariatric surgeon?!? Why, in heaven's name, did you not seek help from him earlier?

It does not surprise me that your surgeon would refuse to continue treating you when you have large ulcers yet refuse to quit smoking (a big contributor to ulcers and one of the biggest factors in the lack of healing).  He knows it is a losing battle if you continue to smoke! It also does not surprise me that no one else wants to take on a new patient wiphose existing surgeon refuses to continue care under those cir****tances.  When multiple medical professionals refuse to take you as a patient, that should tell you how serious your situation is!

As already pointed out, vomiting because of ulcers (or any other physical affliction) has nothing to do with binging and purging.  If you are binging -- with or without purging -- something emotional/psychological is going on, and you need to seek help from a psychologist or professional counselor.  (Your post doesn't mention anything about seeking counseling...)  As a mental health professional, I am greatly concerned by your refusal to use the feeding tube when you are underweight and sick (and, to be honest, I have to question your own assessment that you don't have self esteem issues).  You have three children *****ly on you, yet there is some psychological issue that is stronger than your love for your children and/or your ability to put them first. Please seek help from a mental health professional who has experience with treating eating disorders.  Your surgeon's office probably has someone that they refer patients to, or you can find out who in your area accepts your insurance and you can call several of them to ask if they have experience treating eating disorders.   I am a mental health professional in Ohio, so if you are still in the state of Ohio and cannot find someone, send me a PM and I will see if I can help you find someone.

Are you under ANY doctor's care (even a PCP/GP)?  Have you had your vitamin levels checked in the past year??  (You are very likely suffering from multiple vitamin deficiencies.)

The first two steps that you need to take are quite clear:

1) make an appointment with  a psychologist or counselor

2) you MUST quit smoking (many people -- including my mom, who had smoked for 40 years -- have had great success using Chantix, which may be covered by your insurance)

If you quit smoking, Dr Lalor may well take you back as a patient (and, if not, someone else might be willing to treat you****il then, though, finding medical help may be difficult.  The doctors know what you need to do, and YOU know what you need to do, but if you refuse to quit smoking so these ulcers can heal, and refuse to get psychological help, you are basically slowly killing yourself and no physician is going to open themselves up to the potential legal ramifications of that scenario. Amber, for the sake of your children, please take both of the steps above.

I would suggest mental health treatment even if she's not binging and purging.  Anyone that refuses to quit smoking when faced with such serious health issues related to smoking has some mental health issues.  Anyone that refuses to use a feeding tube when they cannot keep weight on has some mental health issues.  I would also imagine anyone that has been this sick for this long and had trouble getting medical treatment for any reason would also be experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or other mental health issues.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Use the feeding tube. I don't see anything in your post that suggests there's anything wrong with it other than your refusal to use it. Your unwillingness to use the tube, bulimia, not quitting smoking & not getting any help to deal with your mental issues is throwing up huge red flags to any doctor who would treat your physical problems and doctors generally won't open themselves up to a risk like that.

Get treatment for your mental problems, once a doctor sees that your trying to deal with your issues, he'll probably treat you. Zero effort equals zero progress. Sorry to be blunt, but you've got to try, if not for yourself, then for your kids.

I am seeking help from mental health I realize I have a problem about the bulimia. I do not know why exactly the weight loss surgeon took so long to get involved. I think its because the way things are now with people going to the ER's for stupid pain pills for their addictions. It has become quite an epidemic and it hurts people who go for serious issues. I do not use nor have I used feeding tube because there is no longer a doctor to prescribe or care for it and its upkeep. The nutrition I used to put in it has to be prescribed including the things for its upkeep. I need to find someone who can help me and take on my problem therefore getting me better. I am suffering and my family doesn't understand except all they see is me sicker and sicker. They tell me to quit throwing up, I would love to just stop but bulimia is a disease and I am dealing with it by seeking help. I go to group sessions also but I do not fit into the traditional ways or reasons for bulimia, therefore I sit and listen to people say things like they are fat or want to be thinner and when I participate and say things like I want to weigh around 140lbs people get mad. I have even had many group people tell me to leave the group, or tell me after the group tell me they don't want me to come anymore. Some get pretty nasty about it.

Feeding tube UPKEEP ?!?!

Nope.....!

I had one for 9 weeks. NO upkeep. washing it daily.

Protein shakes and vitamins can go into a feeding tube BTW along with ALL daily water requirement.

No special equipment. You can use a turkey baster for GODS SAKE !!

Keep using excuses so you can blame others when you die or end up in a nursing home.

At least the kids can visit you there.......

Bulimia may not be quite the right word for what I do. I do not have the low self esteem issues or think things about my body forcing me to "want" to throw up. Just to clear things up I refer to it as bulimia because I throw up everything I eat I do not sit and "bing and purge" in a traditional sense.

I am now in desperate need of help life or death. I will try to explain the story in as much detail to try and get some kind of help or at least pointed into right direction. I had the Rouen g y back in 2008 by Dr. Peter Lalor. My highest weight was at 334lbs. About 2011 I developed a unusually large ulcer in my pouch stomach causing me to vomit and the complete inability to keep any food down. I sought the help of my family doctor who was unable to pin point the cause and actually diagnose the ulcers. I therefore found myself at the ER suffering from horrible stomach pain and puking. Finally after many more trips at the ER they called in Dr. Lalor who did an MRI and seen what he described as one of the largest ulcers he himself had witnessed. By that point I had been sick and continuously vomiting for an actual year and an half. It's now 2015, I am finally trying to find some kind of help from somewhere. I am basically a full blown bulimic. I am not afraid of gaining weight nor do I share the same views of traditional people with eating disorders where I have self esteem issues. I  struggle every day and vomit each and everyday. I can not keep weight on and find myself now without a large number or my teeth and the teeth I do have are rotten and are painful due to the affects of the binging and purging. Dr. Lalor has discharged me from his care and practice due to my inability to quit smoking and failed nicotine tests. I have a feeding tube which is anchored in my "old stomach" but I have not and do not use. It does absolutely nothing for the bulimia mental problems I face. In fact I have not used the feeding tube in almost 2 full years but can not get or find a doctor to even touch it because another doctor had put it in. Dr. Lalor will not and refuses to remove the feeding tube since I am no longer under his care. I do not have continuous internet but please if you know or can help get pointed into right direction please its my life on the line I have 3 kids who are basically watching me waste into nothing but a bed stricten person on some days. My name is Amber please reply and or PM me.

Thank you....

seriously, amber,I truly believe you are causing most of your own problems getting treatment, because you choose to not quit smoking. Dr. Labor is well within his rights to refuse to be responsible for your care when. He knows that your smoking is going to prevent your healing.

Smoking makes the tissues in our body very fragile, all over the body, not just the lungs. Dr. Labor knows he would simply be spinning his wheels trying to help you when you won't help yourself.

You are worried about your children seeing you "waste ing away" but. You won't stop smoking for them?
