I am looking into gastric sleeve surgery. I currently, get dizzy when I do not eat. So, after surgery will I get dizzy more often because I have to eat less?

In all honesty, probably. I do. Its an indicator for me. Usually, a good drink of water helps me through it.

Although, sometimes a half a protein bar or shake does the trick.

I think dehydration causes my dizzy spells. Seems to happen most often in the morning, before I start tanking' up.

If I get in half my water and half my protein early, it doesn't seem to bother me as much.

A good one a day vitamin may also alleviate dizziness.

Its not about how much you don't eat, its about eatin' the right stuff. The sleeve has taught me this.

Good luck.

that shouldn't be the case. Eating is eating. you eat now and you will eat then. The amount should be different, but you have said it is not eating that makes you dizzy. You will be eating after vsg so I can't see the problem.

Cross post on the VSG message board so other VSG members can see your question too.

Have you talked with your doctor about the dizzy episodes?  Do you sip water throughout the day so you don't become dehydrated?

Dizziness is usually a symptom of low blood pressure, dehydration or low blood sugar whether you're pre-op or post-op.  And I would guess yours may be one of the last two since you only experience it when you don't eat.  If you currently struggle with those issues then you'll probably still be dealing with them post-op.

What you should be focusing on now is identifying WHY you are getting dizzy.  Is it dehydration?  Is it low blood sugar? Or is it low blood pressure?   Figure that out and address is now before surgery.  Then your post-op diet can be tailored to avoid that problem.

I had slight dizziness when I didn't eat prior to VSG and after my dizziness got worse. After checking blood pressure, sugar, and all vitamins, it appears I was deficient in potassium and have been this whole time. Nip it in the butt prior to surgery because more than likely it will just get worse because you won't be consuming much food at first. Now that I'm on the potassium pill, I haven't had an issue.
