Vacationing post surgery
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can give some insight into how long to wait to travel post-surgery. This is beyond the 6 week recovery window that the doctors have recommended, but I'm thinking, when did you feel yourself enough to be able to travel? I am away a lot for work, and starting to plan my summer and fall schedule so I need to take into consideration how long I will need to be able to do everything that I could before, and then hopefully take a vacation overseas.
Anything you can share would be most helpful. Thanks!
I'm blogging about my journey, in the only way I know how to - with a lot of humour and a little potty mouth
I went to NYC for a week when I was 5 weeks post-op and it was pretty awesome!

I had zero issues. I ate tartare at a fancy restaurant, chicken salad (no bread) at Panera, and some sort of burrito-type bowl at a Chipotle-like place. Zero issues with eating. I took protein shakes for breakfasts, since that's my preference. And I took tuna pouches just in case.

I had complications yet I traveled from Atlanta to Boston at 3 weeks post op and from Atlanta to Aruba at 5 weeks post op. I made sure to stock up on sugar free popsicles :) I had no issues.

Many bounce back quickly after WLS. I was a very cheap date for anesthesia thought, and it was around 6 weeks before I started feeling more like myself. If you can give it a few more weeks to ensure you can get the most enjoyment - do it!
