Dating after WLS

Hi All,

I am an early 30's female and I am finally dating after 3 years post op. I guess my one mistake is I am not dating around; I am instead focusing on one guy I thought is wonderful. However, he's wondered how I got to my weight and told me he's concerned about me getting big again. He also was critical about how some of my online pix looked compared to in person. When I talked to my ex, my ex thought I looked like me, nothing to worry. Anyways, I'd love to hear any stories about your dating and how your new guy reacted to your weight loss during the beginning phase of the relationship. Did they think it was awesome you took a step to be healthier or were they a bit judgmental?  I am kinda discouraged about dating at this point because of the harsh words....sigh

If someone was critical about my weight or appearance, we would not be going on a second date.  Why are you still seeing him?

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Girl, you owe NOBODY an explanation for your photos and weight except for yourself. If he feels comfortable questioning you about things like that now, imagine what he will be like in the future of you guys are in a serious relationship.

Try not to let your weight define you. Obviously dating is differenf as a thinner person, but that means you have more choices. And there are a million decent guys who will be more interested in how into you they are more than the possibility that you may get big again. I say ditch him and move on

I wonder if there's a post-bariatric dating site out there. It would be great for people to meet partners who can support one another.

As a dude can I say you found your self a douche. Please move on because a real man would not say he was concerned about you getting big again nor would he be critical of your online pics. Many people struggle with self esteem issues after weight loss. Please do not accept less then what you deserve. Before I got married I was thinking of trying speed dating. Maybe you can check something like that out or look for single events around you.
