Wondering if anyone has almost passed out from still being on blood pressure meds and...
Hello!
I've been a member here for a while, but usually just come by to read, but have recently been experiencing what seems like a drop to low in blood pressure.
I haven't had surgery, but have lost 22 pounds recently through jus****ching my calorie intake, and have noticed that when I bend over for anything, and stand back up, it seems to do the white out thing, and then last night I woke up and rolled on to my left side (I know that side will lower your blood pressure)but anyways, after only like 10 seconds, I felt like I was going to pass out. I started feeling really heavy, and when I woke my husband up, my words were coming out slowly.
I take 25 mg. of atenolol, and have for years, but am wondering, after starting some vitamins that my neurologist found I was low on (that have also been known to lower blood pressure), if it's just too much with the weight loss and all?
Wondering if anyone has had to go off blood pressure meds after only a little over a 20 pound loss? I have an appointment at 3:15 this afternoon with my doctor, but would still like to know if anyone can relate!
P.S. I have had every test just about known to man by my neurologist recently (MRI/MRA on the brain and carotid arteries, EEG, EKG, 30 day event monitor on my heart, and MULTIPLE blood tests) so believe the only thing left could be needing to go off blood pressure meds.
Thank you all for your time! :)
I have had issues but none that I noticed till I lost 40 pounds. I had chapped lips all the time and headaches. One day I forgot to take my Bystolic BP meds and waa laa no headache. So I called the dr. They let me cut the pill in half. I have to take my BP at home 2xs a day and take it to my appointment this This Thursday. I feel better with the half pill but even though I havent lost any recently since the 40 I feel kinda light headed the last couple of days. MY bp has been good so I am not sure what is going on but I can tell my body is changing even if the number on the scale is not. My pulse usually runs in the mid 60's and now is below 60.
Please update after your trip to the Dr. Hope all goes well :)
It sounds like orthostatic hypotension. More fluids and electrolytes will help. Your doc can check your bp and see if that's what it is.

It took losing 200 lbs before I was able to stop taking my blood pressure meds. My BP was hovering around 90/60 before I was able to stop taking them last week. I will be monitoring my BP at home to see if it goes into the high range. I was having dizzy spells when I'd stand up and would often feel faint.
Before I had surgery, I was taking 20mg of lisinopril daily. Within two months, it was decreased to 10mg which I took for the next 11 months. As I mentioned I just stopped taking anything (and I'd been on BP meds since my mid-30s) so it will be interesting to see the results.
