Taking pain meds before surgery

can you take tramadol 2weeks or less before having the gastric sleeve done. I have a lot pain in my hip due to OA.

Call your surgeon and ask ----- doctors have different requirements.

Ask your surgeon to be sure. 

I was taking 50mg of tramadol a day at that point though.

Ask your surgeon.  From what I know that tramadol has so blood thinning qualities so you should be fine.

No, you want to avoid anything with blood-thinning qualities at least two weeks before any kind of surgery! It increases your chances of bleeding out.

Both times I've had surgery I had to stop my NSAIDs two weeks prior, and they gave me Tramadol instead. Sadly, it didn't do me much good.
