Hi everyone I've wanted to get this wls surgery for so e time now and on 1-28-15 I went to my 1st appt where they weight me in and it was like a seminar type of appt. I'm 5"5 and weight 250lbs and I have a BMI of 40, they did start all the paperwork but I guess that I've wanted this for so long that now I'm desperate and not knowing how long this is going to take is killing me, basically they gave me a list documents that I have to gather from my Drs. So my question is how long did it take you from your very first visit till surgery day? My insurance is fidelis care Ny

It varies based on your insurance company reviewing your paperwork and your surgeon's schedule.  Once you have the documentation you can call your insurance company to find out the timing of their review.

Good luck - I hope the process is easy and quick for you.

Like she said above it varies depending on insurance and other requirements but for me, my orientation was 9/6/2014 and my surgery is 2/18/2015 so it took about 5 months from start to finish! I had to do A LOT! More testing then anyone I know and it still didn't take very long! So hang in there, your in for a long ride but It will be happening sooner than you know. Good Luck!
