I was 53. Best thing on earth for me! I will turn 60 this summer and people who have known me for life say that my aging process is going in reverse!

Congratulations on your great decision at the age of 60!  I, too, had my gastric bypass at the age of 60, on January 29th, 2004!  I am 11 years post op and have not had any problems....it was the smartest thing I ever did for myself!  I wish you every success!

My first appointment was the week of my 60th birthday (June 2014). Moderate exercise would have me gasping for air. I was just diagnosed diabetic, had high blood pressure, edema in my ankles for over 16 years. I remember thinking, if I don't do something, I'm not going to live to the end of the year.

I lost 50 lbs. prior to rny surgery.

Since surgery I have lost 30 lbs. (3+weeks) I no longer need metformin (diabetes) or blood pressure meds or Lasix (water pill).

I already feel better than I have in years and still have 100 lbs to lose.

I'm 67 and I have 1 more weight management appointment with my doctor and then everything will go to Medicare for approval. I'm basically healthy except for weight related issues such as joint pain, high blood pressure etc.  Talk to your doctor about your reservations and the risks and complications of you having surgery.  Good luck and come back here, this is a great place to get questions answered.

I was 56 when I was sleeved, and will be 60 next week.  The WLS program I went through said they'd do the surgery, as a rule, up to age 65, but would consider folks older than 65 on a case by case basis.
