At what age did you have your weight loss surgery

First,  I will be 60 in a few months, and I have my first appointment for WLS at the end of February.  All insurance and referrals are approved.  Just waiting for that first long appointment.  I have been reading these boards for a few months, and was wondering how old you were when you had your WLS?  Is 60 pushing the age limit?  I'm apprehensive.  Thanks!

Not at all. I was 56 at surgery, 64 now. And if  I hadn't had it done then, I would happily do it now at nearly 65,

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I was 52..and I don't think 60 is pushing the age limit.  I believe this surgery has given me an extra 10 years of life, and a quality one at that.  Go for it!

Absolutely not! I was 63 when I was sleeved. It's now 9 months later,  I've lost 100% of my excess weight and am at a normal BMI for the first time in decades.  I routinely enjoy 6-7 mile walks, have boundless energy, and can keep up with my grandchildren.  My 6 year old granddaughter just told me, "Gran, you sparkle now."

It is never too late to change the direction of your life.

Good luck!

Got my sleeve at 71 1/2 years, and that was in October of 2008.

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!
