Band to Sleeve Revision - Is it worth doing?

Hi,

I have a band but the band has slipped a bit and I have regained 15kg of the 32 I have lost.  I also find my diet is now based on very "saucy" food or foods that go down easy as the band is quite tight.  I have also modified my eating habits so that I now eat more slowly but can eat quite a lot using that pattern.  Is the sleeve a better option for me.  Anyone done the revision and have success (or otherwise) stories?

Im getting my "human torchure device - lapband" removed next Tuesday and getting a sleeve.  I got the band 4 years ago because it was all my insurance would pay for at the time.  Now with a new company and new insurance its getting approval and paid for.

Yes I did well with the band the first year and then it stopped working.  I want the permanent change forcing permanent change in my life.

Are you satisifed with the loss you had with the band?  You should expect a similar rate of loss with the sleeve in its place.

If you were hoping for more, then you may want to research more about the RNY and DS to add a malabsorptive component.  Some people really need it - others not so much.  Think hard at how your body reacts to your dieting efforts to determine.

Seeing as how you have regained half of what you had lost...cut out the sauces and stop eating around the band NOW.  Please take it from me, I had the band in 2007 and it was removed last July.  After losing 80 pounds, I managed to give up on myself and regained the 80 plus another 20...just to make sure I was fat enough I guess.  So, stop sabatoging yourself now while you have a great chance to regain control.

Sounds like your gain is directly associated with having to sauce your foods to get them down so it only makes sense to change to a surgery that won't make you have to do that to eat. There have been thousands of people who have had to revise to other surgeries because the band failed them both here and in Australia. I think you will be very happy with the sleeve or any other surgery but the band is known to fail on a very regular basis and once you slip you are going to be prone to slip again. There are lots of groups on social media for failed bands and even some in Ozland.

Yes. Do it. The band seems to fail a lot of people

I have lost 115#'s.  I had my surgery on January 20, 2004.
